Our course will be held in the Drummer’s Room which is inside the Castle itself. Parking is available in the car park opposite reception. Please report to the Castle Reception 15 minutes before your workshop is due to start.
Location
GPS users please DO NOT use the postcode in your GPS as this will take you to the closed back entrance of the Herstmonceux Castle and will result in a 15 minute re-route. The correct front entrance is at the junction of Wartling Road and Halley Road (Private)
Herstmonceux Castle is in East Sussex. It is 2 miles east of the village of Herstmonceux on the Boreham Street to Pevensey Road, near Wartling. Look for the brown signs to 'Herstmonceux Castle and Science Centre'.
From the north it is now more direct to continue south on the A22 to the large roundabout north of Eastbourne, then proceed as below.
From the west travel along the A27 to Polegate, then follow the A22 / A27 eastbound to Pevensey. At the ‘Esso’ roundabout, take the 1st exit and follow the sign for Herstmonceux Castle, 3 miles along the Wartling Road
From the east travel along the A259 to the ‘Esso’ roundabout at Pevensey. Take the 4th exit and follow the sign for Herstmonceux Castle, 3 miles along the Wartling Road.

WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS:
To get the most from your course, please note the following:
· You will need your camera. Ensure it has fresh/fully charged batteries and a spare battery is recommended.
· You will need your fully-detailed camera instruction manual (it’s worth checking your manual – sometimes the printed one you receive only contains basic facts and there’s a fully detailed manual on the CD that came with the camera, in which case bring the CD too).
· Memory card - it is essential that you start the day with an empty, preferably newly formatted, memory card. This is to minimize downloading time to the computers, so that everyone has the opportunity to view their own photos. We will use card readers to transfer your images to our computers, but in the event that we are not able to do this successfully, please bring your camera to computer data cable too.
· For SLR users, please don’t set your camera to shoot RAW images, as they will make downloading too slow. If you want to shoot RAW, please select RAW plus jpeg. (Sigma users - if you are not able to shoot jpeg, please notify us in advance of the workshop).
· A camera bag is useful for protecting your camera and equipment when outdoors, and a transparent plastic bag and some sticky tape make a good, temporary waterproof cover for your camera, and an umbrella will protect both you and your equipment on wet days.
· Bring a tripod (full height) if you have one.
· A notebook and pen/pencil will be needed.
· Dress in warm, comfortable clothing for outdoor sessions. A waterproof/ windproof top will be useful.
· Comfortable but strong footwear is advised for photographing outdoors.
· A garden kneeler or similar for getting low for some photos.
REFRESHMENTS:
Coffee will be available on arrival and mid-morning. For lunch you can either:
· bring a packed lunch
· eat in the Tea Rooms where sandwiches and simple snacks are available
