DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS AT BURGHLEY HOUSE

Please read these instructions carefully!

TIMES/DIRECTIONS:

The start and finish times for your workshop can be found on the appropriate workshop page of the website, e.g. Close-up.  Please report to the main House Entrance (a new glass construction, just beyond the Stableyard) 15 minutes before your workshop is due to start.

Location:

Burghley House is just off the A1 near Stamford, Lincs.  Turn towards Stamford.   Follow the road past the estate wall and the impressive Bottle lodges entrance gates.   Just past the A43 on the left, turn right past the Bull & Swan Public House and continue for one mile along the Barnack Road.   You will see the visitors entrance on the right.

WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS:

To get the most from your course, please note the following:

·         You will need your camera.  Ensure it has fresh/fully charged batteries and a spare battery is recommended.

·         You will need your fully-detailed camera instruction manual (it’s worth checking your manual – sometimes the printed one you receive only contains basic facts and there’s a fully detailed manual on the CD that came with the camera, in which case bring the CD too).

·         Memory card - it is essential that you start the day with an empty, preferably newly formatted, memory card.  This is to minimize downloading time to the computers, so that everyone has the opportunity to view their own photos.  We will use card readers to transfer your images to our computers, but in the event that we are not able to do this successfully, please bring your camera to computer data cable too.

·         For SLR users, please don’t set your camera to shoot RAW images, as they will make downloading too slow.  If you want to shoot RAW, please select RAW plus jpeg. (Sigma users - if you are not able to shoot jpeg, please notify us in advance of the workshop).

·         A camera bag is useful for protecting your camera and equipment when outdoors, and a transparent plastic bag and some sticky tape make a good, temporary waterproof cover for your camera, and an umbrella will protect both you and your equipment on wet days.

·         Bring a tripod (full height) if you have one.

·         A notebook and pen/pencil will be needed.

·         Dress in warm, comfortable clothing for outdoor sessions. A waterproof/ windproof top will be useful.

·         Comfortable but strong footwear is advised for photographing outdoors.

·         A garden kneeler or similar for getting low for some photos.

WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTO EDITING WORKSHOPS:

All you will require is a pen and notebook.

REFRESHMENTS:

·         Coffee will be available on arrival and mid-morning.  For lunch you can either:

·         bring a packed lunch

·         eat in the Orangery Restaurant - at weekend the Orangery can be very busy, so please call 01780 767386 to make a reservation.
