Please read these instructions carefully!
TIMES:
If you are not a National Trust member, you may be asked to pay the standard car entry fee if you arrive after the gate is manned.
Classroom: As you may arrive before there is anyone on duty, please see the map at CALKE ABBEY MAP to show you how to find the classroom.
WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES:
To get the most from your course, please note the following:
· You will need your camera. Ensure it has fresh/fully charged batteries and a spare battery is recommended.
· You will need your fully-detailed camera instruction manual (it’s worth checking your manual – sometimes the printed one you receive only contains basic facts and there’s a fully detailed manual on the CD that came with the camera, in which case bring the CD too).
· Memory card - it is essential that you start the day with an empty, preferably newly formatted, memory card. This is to minimize downloading time to the computers, so that everyone has the opportunity to view their own photos. We will use card readers to transfer your images to our computers, but in the event that we are not able to do this successfully, please bring your camera to computer data cable too.
· For SLR users, please don’t set your camera to shoot RAW images, as they will make downloading too slow. If you want to shoot RAW, please select RAW plus jpeg. (Sigma users - if you are not able to shoot jpeg, please notify us in advance of the workshop).
· A camera bag is useful for protecting your camera and equipment when outdoors, and a transparent plastic bag and some sticky tape make a good, temporary waterproof cover for your camera, and an umbrella will protect your equipment and you in wet weather.
· Bring a tripod (full height) if you have one.
· A notebook and pen/pencil will be needed.
· Dress in warm, comfortable clothing for outdoor sessions. A waterproof/ windproof top will be useful and a brolly can protect you and your camera.
· Comfortable but strong footwear is advised for photographing outdoors.
· A garden kneeler or similar for getting low for some photos.
All you will require is a pen and notebook.
REFRESHMENTS:
Coffee will be available on arrival and mid-morning. There is a restaurant at Calke, but it can be very busy, so you may wish to bring a packed lunch.
