Digital Photography Workshops at Hardwick Hall (Park Centre)

Please read these instructions carefully!

TIMES:

The start and finish times for your workshop can be found on the appropriate workshop page of the website, e.g. Close-up.

Please report to the Park Centre 15 minutes before your workshop is due to start.

DIRECTIONS

Please note that the Park Centre is about 5 minutes by car from Hardwick Hall. From Junction 29 of the M1, follow the A6175 and take the first left towards Hardwick Hall. Do not however take the second turning for the Hall, but instead carry on towards Hardwick Inn. The road runs parallel to the M1 for a short distance. Immediately after you have driven under the motorway bridge turn left down to the Park Centre.  Click here for a local map.

NOTE: There is a car park adjacent to the Centre – please note that you do not have to pay to use the car park if you are attending a workshop.  For some workshops at Hardwick, we may ask you to drive your car from the Park Centre to Hardwick Hall or Stainby Mill during the day.

WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES:

To get the most from your course, please note the following:

·         You will need your camera.  Ensure it has fresh/fully charged batteries and a spare battery is recommended.

·         You will need your fully-detailed camera instruction manual (it’s worth checking your manual – sometimes the printed one you receive only contains basic facts and there’s a fully detailed manual on the CD that came with the camera, in which case bring the CD too).

·         Memory card - it is essential that you start the day with an empty, preferably newly formatted, memory card.  This is to minimize downloading time to the computers, so that everyone has the opportunity to view their own photos.  We will use card readers to transfer your images to our computers, but in the event that we are not able to do this successfully, please bring your camera to computer data cable too.

·         For SLR users, please don’t set your camera to shoot RAW images, as they will make downloading too slow.  If you want to shoot RAW, please select RAW plus jpeg. (Sigma users - if you are not able to shoot jpeg, please notify us in advance of the workshop).

·         A camera bag is useful for protecting your camera and equipment when outdoors, and a transparent plastic bag and some sticky tape make a good, temporary waterproof cover for your camera, and an umbrella will protect your equipment and you in wet weather.

·         Bring a tripod (full height) if you have one.

·         A notebook and pen/pencil will be needed.

·         Dress in warm, comfortable clothing for outdoor sessions. A waterproof/ windproof top will be useful.

·         Comfortable but strong footwear is advised for photographing outdoors.

·         A garden kneeler or similar for getting low for some photos.

WHAT TO BRING ON PHOTO EDITING WORKSHOPS:

All you will require is a pen and notebook.

REFRESHMENTS:

Coffee will be available on arrival and mid-morning.  Please bring a packed lunch.
