Cressing Barns, Essex
Birds of Prey workshop in and around the stunning barns at Cressing Temple. We will do a mixture of static and flying shots using the Barns and the surrounding coutryside as our backdrops. First part of the workshop is the zoom how to presentation on 5th April at 7pm then its on to the practical session with our experienced falconers at Cressing Temple at 10am on the 6th. The photographic opportunities that the birds and the barns together create is something very special and not to be missed.
Introduction to Photography - Part 1 - Get off Auto

Travel and street photowalk starting from the Michaelhouse Cafe in Cambridge. We will spend time capturing the architecture, people in passing, odd details and intriguing signage in the iconic city of Cambridge. Limited to just 5 students this is the perfect opportunity to develop your photographic eye to take the best advantage of the photo opportunities that come your way. Photowalk runs from 1.30pm to 5pm and is suitable for any camera including a modern smartphone.
Introduction to Photography - Part 3 - Manual Mode & Composition
Cambridge
The art of composition is a key element of photography but is often overlooked in favour of the technical side. On this workshop we study all the different elements that work, both individually and together, to create a stunning photograph, including colours, textures, angles and a host of other elements that influence your photos. We also show you how and why to work in full Manual Mode to further improve your images. We will meet and do the presetation in my Burwell studio and then its off for a wander around the village for the practical part. This session has a maximum of 6 students. Read More

This could be an image review session with up to 15 images looked at or it could be tutoring on how to use tools in Lightroom or Photoshop that you are struggling with. It may be that you have an new camera and need assistance on setting it up. Once you book I will send you an email to discuss what you need assiatance with.
Introduction to Photography - Part 2 - Movement
Cambridge
If you have done a Part 1 Get Off Auto or are comfortable with the basics, this 1-1 workshop teaches you how to photograph moving subjects to freeze or intentionally blur movement, how to deal with tricky lighting situations with the use of metering or fill in flash, how and when to use shutter priority mode, plus lots more to take your photography to the next level. This session takes place in my studio in Burwell and will last approx 3 hrs with a 10am start time.

Using the flowers, fauna and structures of the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge we will look at composition and how to get beautiful close up images. Suitable for any camera and lens combination but if you have a macro lens or extention tubes then bring these along as this will give you more options when taking images of the flowers. The presentation part of this workshop is delivered via zoom at 7pm on the 13th July followed by the practical part at the Botanic Gardens from 1pm on the 16th. Limited to just 6 students

The perfect opportunity to take the next step to improve your photography of birds in flight and capturing portraits in natural surroundings. This workshop is split into two sessions the first is a Zoom pressentation at 7pm on the 13th September where I will explain how to take images of the birds both in flight and perched. The second is the practical session at the venue on the 14th September which runs from 2pm to 6pm to take advanteg of the best light to photograph the birds.

OPEN DATED - 3 hr 1-1 Introduction to Lightroom Classic workshop. There is a huge amount of online resources that can assit you with Lightroom the problem is that they all assume you know the basics. This workshop will teach you the basics and you will leave with video tutorials of all the content so you can practise at home after. Sessions are held in my studio in Burwell. If you would like a different location this can be arranged but there will be an additional charge of £0.45 per mile from Burwell. Book this either as a gift or for yourself, just get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient date.
