Residential Photography Courses in Cornwall

This course is about enjoying a few days in one of the most beautiful parts of the south west, making the most of the stunning local scenery which offers an incredible range of opportunities in which to practice and improve your landscape photography skills.

The course is ideally suited to anybody who has completed a going digital level 1 workshop, or who has a good working knowledge of their digital SLR and can work with aperture priority mode.

Location

The weekend will focus mainly on Landscape photography and is based at the Callington School of Art, Lower house in the small town of Callington near Plymouth in Cornwall. Lower House will also act as our lodgings for the weekend and offers 4 star guest house accommodation and fine locally sourced home cooked food. The location of the town is within a short drive of both Dartmoor and Bodmin and both the Cornish north and south coastlines are also within easy reach.

Depending on numbers attending there may be occasion when some clients will be accommodated in a nearby Guest house; this will be of an equal standard to Lower house and within a short distance. Main evening meals will still be taken with the rest of the group at Lower house.

Programme Overview

The course is a combination of indoor tutorial sessions, practical outdoor assignments, and image review sessions. Time will be spent exploring the photographic opportunities that the nearby varied Cornish landscapes can offer and also a visit to the magnificent Cotehele house and gardens.

We will cover:

· Key camera techniques for landscape photography.

· Composition.

· Equipment requirement.

· Photoshop skills and portrait photography techniques(in the event of bad weather only)

Equipment requirements

You will require a digital SLR or Bridge camera, a tripod and of course you will need to be prepared for bad weather, we will always try and get outdoors and will only revert to indoor sessions in the event of heavy rainfall or exceptionally bad weather.

Cost

The cost of the course is £345.00 per person. The price includes all tuition, course notes and handouts, entrance to the National Trust Cotehele house on the Sunday ,transport to photographic locations on Saturday, your room for two nights a light supper on Friday night, a full three course meal on the Saturday night and a full breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Cost for non residential attendance

If you are local to the area and wish to attend without the overnight accommodation then the cost would be £195.00. This will be for theory and practical sessions only and will not include any lodgings or meals. There are only a few of these places available, if you are interested in attending on a non residential basis then please contact Dominic for availability.

A discount of 10% off the total price will be given to a participating couple sharing a double room.

Should anybody wish to bring along a non participating partner then there may be a limited number of places as long as a double room is shared, please contact Dominic for details and cost.

Booking

You can book by clicking on the book now link below and paying a £50.00 deposit per person. We will then contact you to confirm full details. The balance is payable four weeks before the course. The deposit is not refundable.

Please note that due to a certain amount of walking involved on this course, the course will not be suitable for disabled students.
