MAKING GREAT LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHS
What is the course all about?
This course is designed to help photographers achieve stunning landscape images by developing the ability to “see” great shots and to skilfully use their cameras to record them. We concentrate on getting things right in the camera rather than spending a lot of time at the computer.
Venue
Our location for this course is Ullswater, which is the second largest lake in the Lake District.
The valley offers an incredible range of opportunities for Landscape Photography in all conditions. Great locations for photographing the lake, mountains, waterfalls and rivers are in abundance and our hotel is within a few minutes walking distance of some fabulous shots. This allows us to spend more time making images and less time travelling.
Our base for this course is The Inn on the Lake Hotel which enjoys one of the most spectacular settings in the Lake District in 15 acres of grounds. The hotels lawns sweep to the shores of Lake Ullswater from which we can achieve fantastic images.
The Inn on the Lake is only 12 miles from the M6 motorway and the drive is very dramatic with the road curving around the Lake amidst the backdrop scenery of the fells.
The course price includes your single room for 2 nights, dinner and a full Cumbrian breakfast. For variety we will dine in the hotels award-winning Lake View Restaurant on one night and on the other we will eat in the Ramblers Bar, situated within the hotel’s grounds.
See http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/innonthelake/index.htm for more details of the hotel.

Participant ratio/tutor
We will work with a maximum group size of 6 people and the course tutor will be professional photographer Tony Wright www.earthscapesphotography.co.uk.
Post course photo critique
In order to help you develop further, over the 6 months following the course, you can e mail Tony five images which he will critique for you.
Prior experience
The course is ideal for people who have completed a level 1 Going Digital course already or who have an understanding of how to operate a camera in aperture priority (AV) mode. We will give various skills inputs during the workshop including a refresher of apertures/depth of fields to ensure all participants get the maximum from the course.
What equipment do I need?
A full equipment list is included in the joining instructions but essentially you will need a digital SLR with a standard lens, a tripod (there are a couple of tripods available to borrow), waterproof and warm clothing.
Partners/extra nights
Ullswater is a wonderful location for a mini break so you have the option to change your single room to a double so that a non participating partner can join you. The price is £85 per night which includes dinner and breakfast. Your partner would be welcome to join us for dinner etc.
The hotel can also provide excellent rates if you want to stay extra nights either side of the course. Please contact the hotel for further information on rates. http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/innonthelake/index.htm
