Jean Napier ARPS BA(Hons) Photographic Studies
Jean is professional photographer and has been teaching photography for over 20 years to people of all ages and abilities. She specialises in landscape and social documentary and is an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. She is also a qualified Mountain Leader.
The magnificent scenery of the Snowdonia National Park and the north Wales coast where she lives is Jean's main inspiration and man's influences on the landscape from 5000bc to modern-day quarry workings are a recurring theme in her exhibitions and books.
Her current exhibition "Llanw - Tide" featuring the effects of the sea on the beautiful coastline of Wales is on tour. Three images from the exhibition are shown on the right of this page.
She has had four landscape photography books published to date and the last one "The River Conwy - Source to Sea" was published in July 2011. It has a Foreword from Iolo Williams the Welsh Naturalist.
Jean has featured in a number of television programmes on the rivers of Snowdonia including "Tidal Wales" for ITV Wales which depicted her work on the River Dyfi.
Weekend Residential Weekend in Snowdonia
Jean is now running weekend residential at Plas Y Brenin at the foot of Snowdon - see Wales Residential page on website for more info. You can also attend this weekend course as a 'day' student for the two days for £150.

One-to-one Training and Weekend Residential Workshops
Our one-to-one days usually run from 9.30am to 4pm. Our charges are below:
- Weekdays - from £200 plus traveling and any other expenses, e.g. room hire if required
Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays- from £250 plus traveling and any other expenses, e.g. room hire if required- A second person is welcome, free of charge
- Group rates on request.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
We ask for a £50 deposit (non-refundable) payable on booking your one-to-one training, with the balance to be paid in full at least 14 days before the training day.
For weekend residential workshops we ask for a £50 deposit (non-refundable) payable on booking with the balance to be paid in full 4 weeks before the workshop.

Firstly thank you for such an enjoyable course the other day. I have been wanting to learn about macro photography for years. So it was a very interesting day. You have a lot of patience for even the most stupid question, so it was lovely to feel able to ask the questions that I wouldn't have done normally.

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how enjoyable and informative I found today's course at Coed y Brenin.
It was by far the best day out that I have had since my exams finished and having just finished reviewing my photos from today, I am pleased to have come away with several successful shots that utilise techniques that I had never used before today. Thanks again and I hope to see you in the near future.

Just to say how rewarding I found the two days at Erddig on the Going Digital courses. I've just been reviewing and tidying up my notes and have created a checklist which I can use as an aide memoir when I am out and about with my camera. It real does show how much you have helped me increase my knowledge. All I have to do now is to put in into practice! So, many thanks for the excellent way that you conducted the course, in less than ideal weather conditions.

Hi Jean,
Happy New Year, I hope you enjoyed the festivities. I attended one of your courses last year at Erddig House and entered their 2013 'Echoes of Erddig' calendar competition. Not only was I short-listed for the finals, but went on to win one of the months and overall winner!! to say I was surprised is a little understated. Thanks again for all your help the course was great, I'm still honing the tips you gave me.
