Understanding Your Digital SLR

Understand more about your camera so that you can take total control of your photography.

 

If you have attended our Explore the Features of Your Digital SLR workshop and possibly some of our Level 2 workshops (see Photography Courses for details), or you already have a good understanding of depth of field and set an appropriate Aperture, and would like to learn more about your camera's potential, this day is designed to give you a much better understanding of how your camera and lenses work together.

Correctly Exposed Photographs

We will show you how the various functions of your camera and lenses work together to enable you to produce consistently well-exposed photos in a variety of situations.  You will also discover that cameras don't see light in the same way as our eyes, and learn how to take this into account in your photography. 

Learn More About Lenses & Other Accessories

This workshop will assist you in understanding which lenses are best suited to various types of photography, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions regarding other accessories throughout the day.

Review Your Photos

You will put theory to the test by taking photos in various, sometimes challenging, conditions and will have the opportunity to review and discuss your images throughout the day. 

Our tutors will be on hand at all times to assist you and answer your questions.

Equipment

This workshop is designed for all makes and models of SLR camera and bridge cameras - large compact cameras with Aperture and Timed (shutter speed) modes and an optical zoom of 6x or greater.   Please note that on the day we will ask you to shoot in jpeg format to speed up downloading onto our computers.  If your SLR shoots in RAW format only, please let us know when making your booking.
