STUDENT FEEDBACK
Hi Rod,
I just wanted to say 'thank you' for a brilliant day at Wimpole Hall on your Explore your DSLR Part 1 course on Saturday 4th May. We had excellent tuition and a group of really good people who were there to learn and have fun and I can honestly say that for the first time I understood the meaning of 'depth of field', aperture and composition. At least when I read an article now it will make some sense too! and now......... I need to practice.
I have attached a couple of photo's to remind you who I was and a couple of others I took after the course before returning home. I would be interested to have your feedback on those.
I hope to attend the next course in the not too distant future.
Thanks again to you and Allison, great course and I would recommend it to anybody with a camera.
Hope to see you soon.
Best regards
Carole (DSLR2)
Dear Rod and Alison
I just wanted to thank you for such a great day at Wimpole on Saturday. Both you and Alison were fantastic (you should start a double act!) and you helped us all tremendously. Nothing was too much trouble and you made us all feel very comfortable so that we could ask any question at all, – just exactly what I was looking for so much so I have now booked the part two!
Kind regards
Julie (SLR1)
Rod
Just a quick note to thank you for yesterday – I now feel more confident of my photography and have erased Auto from the memory banks – many thanks your delivery made the day.
Simon (Explore Part 1)
Dear Rod and Ann,
Many thanks for an excellent day.
I hope I didn't seem critical about the access to the Joining Instruction....but the capital 'I' in the button wasn't obvious to me. Why not put 'Joining Instructions' in the box?
I wasn't entirely sure whether I should have started with the basic course or gone for the subsequent module when I booked it, but I learnt much about the camera that I hadn't really taken in by reading manual and had certainly got lazy with the green button.
I look forward to seeing you soon for the next level.
Best wishes,
Jonathan (SLR1)
Hi Rod,and Ann
Thanks for the day at Wimpole on Sat.Learnt a lot and worth while.I have really moved on from Auto setting. Will take a further course (not sure which one yet))and one on Photoshop later.
(Barry, WImpole Hall SLR1 - Feb 2012)
Dear Rod
Many thanks for a great workshop today! It was very informative and
for a beginner like me the relaxed and non intimidating atmosphere
really helped my confidence. Everything was explained clearly and the
handouts will prove useful when I'm practising on my own. I'd happily
recommend these workshops to others.
Best wishes,
Nikol (Landscapes & Travel)
Hi Rod, Hope this finds you well?
I am sorry that this email is a bit overdue, but life has been pretty
hectic! Just wanted to say how much John and I enjoyed the digital
photography day and the other Sat in Herts. Really good. Lots of tips
and chance to share ideas, talk about cameras, picture composition etc
etc. Nice group of people - very friendly. Appreciated the really good
handouts! Great venue too! I am looking forward to the second digital
editing course in Sept!
Best wishes and many thanks, Tracy & John (SLR1).
Hi Rod,
I just wanted to say thank you for the Explore your DSLR part 1 course that I attended last weekend at Wimpole. I really enjoyed the course and found it to be very helpful. I've always been interested in photography and wanted to to do so much more than just press a button - I now feel that I have a better understanding of how cameras work and have the basic knowledge to start getting creative with my photography.
I felt that the course was run at a good pace in a great location - I have already booked onto part 2 in September and so am looking forward to some more practical sessions.
Emma
Thanks Rod & Ann for the ‘Explore your DSLR part 1 & part 2’ workshops at Wimpole Hall. Both workshops were a good balance of teaching & hands-on experience, and were extremely helpful. Plus, being able to contact you for follow-up help after the workshops has been invaluable. Not only are my photos (and my confidence) improving, but I am more able to understand why. I’m hooked!
Thanks again,
Rachel J
Rod
Just a short note to say thank you very much to both yourself and Ann for 2 great days of photography tuition during DSLR1 (Anglesey Abbey - Jan 2011) and DSLR2 (Wimpole Hall - Feb 2011). We both learnt a great deal and thought that you had the right mix of classroom vs. practical sessions, together with really useful handouts. We were both impressed with yourself and Ann's knowledge and ability to answer every question we threw at you. We're looking forward to getting out there in the big wide world and practising our new found skills......we'll let you know how we get on!
Best Wishes
Rita & Mark Reid (SLR1)
Hi Rod,
Thanks for two great course DSLR 1 in January at Wimpole Hall & 2 in February also in Wimpole Hall. The first course took my complete technical ignorance and gave me information I needed to actually come off Auto Camera setting. I now rarely use Auto, the information you gave me also inspired my kids to want to use MY camera not on auto! I have also increased my weight load when out for a walk having being inspired to carry a tripod, but the pay off is some lovely photos ...no longer blurry (well mostly).
Course 2 gave me ammunition to shoot my camera at randomly moving objects and come back with well lit/sharp photos, God willing! I am so please that I can now use aperture priority AND shutter priority with an air of competence that makes people ask me if I am a professional photographer. I hate to disappoint them.
Well thanks again for informative and entertaining courses. I will be back for more, if you will have me!
Regards
Sally (Wimpole - SLR1 & SLR2)
Hello there
Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say thanks for both the SLR 1 & 2 Courses I have recently attended. Both were very informative with a great mixture of theory and practical application. Has brought the world of SLR Digital to life for me. Would thoroughly recommend the Course and will definitely attend another one once I have had time to practice and embed what I have learned. Both Rod and Ann put everyone at their ease and the Workshops are very relaxed with everyone comfortable to ask questions. Well done.

Hi Rod
Just got home from the part 2 course with you, excellent. Everything makes some much more sense with the balance of shutter speed and aperture and ISO. Lots to practice with now and just thinking what course next.
Hmmm spontaneous portrait photography i think
Thank you for the knowledge presented in a friendly, humorous manner and especially i will always remember (fingers crossed) to set the camera back to standard before taking the next photo
Darran (SLR2)
This was a really helpful workshop for me – it’s ideal for any camera-owner who is stuck taking photos in ‘auto’ mode but who wants to find out what all the other symbols mean, and what their camera can actually do. I can’t wait to get out there & practice the techniques learned today. While I know Part 1 stands on its own as a workshop, it has increased my confidence and whetted my appetite… and I’m really looking forward to Part 2!
Thanks again.
Rachel J (Explore your Digital camera Part 1)
Many thanks for today Rod, really enjoyed the workshop - and more to the point it really sorted out some of the gaps in my knowledge -hopefully it is one step on the way on the transition from occasionally competent to an ambition to become a really good photographer - just not quite there yet! I look forward to level 2 next month.
