One-Day Photography Workshops at Manchester, Castlefield

This modern Youth Hostel and Conference Centre is located in amongst the canals and wharves of the Castlefield area of Manchester and it is those features that provide subjects for our practical sessions. The training rooms are well equipped and there is a restaurant and bar on site. The centre is a 15 minute tram ride from the Lowry and Imperial War Museum North; the Museum of Science and Industry is a few minutes walk away and other city centre attractions are not too far away.

Accessibility: The Conference centre itself is fully accessible to wheelchair users. There is designated disabled parking adjacent to the building; a ramp up to reception and a lift to the second floor conference room which is our classroom for the day. Outside is a very interesting area with the restored canal basin and old bridges combined with the new architecture of the arena; there are modern arching foot bridges and several Victorian railway viaducts worth photographing or as backdrops. Much of the area is flat or gently sloping modern paving flags; some parts are large setts which we believe would be okay with care. There are a few areas of large cobbles on a bit of a slope but these can be navigated around. Some areas at the top of the arena itself are accessed by steps.
