London Photowalks & Street and Travel Photography Workshops
On Going Digital’s London Street Safaris there is no classroom session - just pure photography from beginning to end with feedback and advice from your Tutor - our courses are limited to 4 so you get plenty of one-to-one time! Our London Strret and Travel Photowalks are led by Tas Black, MA Photography and Visual Anthropology. Tas has published in numerous magazines and exhibited internationally and specialises in travel photography, social documentary, reportage photography and portraiture.
As well as our popular evening Low Light and Street and Travel Photography Walks for DSLR, bridge and compact system cameras we also offer a NEW Smartphone Photography Walk on the South Bank led by Richard Berry. Twilight by the Thames - An Evening Photowalk
DSLR, bridge and compact system cameras. We will meet at 6.30 pm at the Cafe Nero, Lancaster Place, 2 Lancaster Place London, WC2E 7EA. From Waterloo Bridge we will slowly make our way along the South Bank to Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. The view of our great London city doesn't get any better than an evening on Waterloo Bridge - The London eye lit up, the Houses of Parliament at sunset, the reflections in River Thames, the night life on the South Bank. Learn how to photograph during the golden hour and into the night and practice your low light photography skills to capture London at night. You will need a digital camera with the ability to set both aperture and shutter speed and a tripod (we can loan tripods). This walk runs from 6.30-9.30pm. NEW London Christmas Lights Safari - for DSLR, bridge and compact system cameras. Meeting outside Covent Garden tube station this walks runs from 6.30 to 9.30 and will teach you all the skills to take fantastic Christmas light photos. Please see the Low Light Walk above for details of equipment eg tripod.
Covent Garden to China Town Travel & Street Photography SafariDSLR, bridge and compact system cameras. We meet at 10am in the Marks and Spencer's cafe to the left of Covent Garden tube station. We will spend time in the Covent Garden Piazza where we will spend 30 minutes discussing the settings on your digital camera. Then we take a leisurly stroll to put these skills into practice photographing “Living Statues”/street performers and a variety of café culture, “olde worlde”, shops and stalls, at one of London’s most famous landmarks. Our next stop will be Leicester Square, amongst the busy restaurants, theatres, caricature artists, and tourists before heading into China Town.
After lunch we will stroll through to London’s famous China Town where we can take practice taking colourful photographs in this vibrant, culturally rich area, through Soho to Trafalgar Square before closing our day at 3.30pm.
The City & Borough Market to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London Travel & Street Photography SafariDSLR, bridge and compact system cameras. We will meet at 10 am in the Crosse Keys Public House in Gracechurch Street. From there we will cross over London Bridge to Walk down the river-side to Southwalk Cathedral and Borough Market. From here we progress along the South Bank past HMS Belfast to Tower Bridge. We will photograph Tower Bridge before moving on to the Tower of London where so many lost their heads! We will stop for you to lunch in the Tower area at Trinity Square. After lunch, we will walk back towards the city photographing some of the great monuments and buildings inside the walls of the ancient City and end our day at Bank station.
Market Bliss - Bricklane Travel & Street Photography SafariDSLR, bridge and compact system cameras. We will meet at 10 am in the Hamilton Hall Wetherspoons, street-level Concourse, Liverpool Street Station. From there we will take a short walk to Spitalfields Markets, Petticoat Lane Market and Bricklane Market in Shoreditch where retro meets vintage, and where the graffiti artist Banksy gained much of his recognition.
Bricklane is buzzing on a Sunday with the wonderful and the unusual. This a good chance to really get out there and practice capturing people at their best.
NEW Portabello Road Travel & Street Photography SafariNew workshops will be running from October to capture the sights of Portobello's iconic market - the world’s largest antiques market with over 1,000 dealers selling every kind of antique and collectible. Visitors flock from all over the world to discover one of London’s best loved landmarks which contains the most extensive selection of antiques in Britain. We will meet at 10 am in the Cafe Nero at 35 Notting Hill Gate. The course will finish at 3.30.
Greenwich Street Safari(UNESCO World Heritage Site)We will meet at 10 am in the Wetherspoon's Gate Clock at 10am to discuss camera functions before setting off on our safari through Greenwich Park, past the Observatory, the Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market and more... The day will end at 3.30.
NEW Smartphone Photography WalksSmartphones only! If you would like to learn how to take better pictures with your smartphone and understand how to use a variety of different Apps to edit them, this course is ideal for you. What you will learn: what Apps to use, how to compose a great photograph, the creative use of light, how to crop your images for creative effect and make brightness, colour and contrast adjustments, how to use filters to transform your images and add artistic flare, how to easily create amazing photo collages, and finally how to share your images. We meet at 10 am in the Crosse Keys Public House in Gracechurch Street. From there we will cross over London Bridge to Walk down the river-side to Southwalk Cathedral and Borough Market and past the Golden Hind along the Thames to the Millennium Bridge and over the St Pauls Cathedral. These 3 hour workshops are led by tutor Richard Berry.
