PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES IN DERBYSHIRE

Photography & Photo Editing at Hardwick

National Trust Hardwick Hall is a great venue for our photography courses in Derbyshire. Near Chesterfield, just off J29 of the M1 motorway, it provides us with a huge variety of subjects to photograph, including stunning landscapes, a working water mill, lakes and ponds, Hardwick Hall itself, the herb garden and much more.
Spectacular Hardwick Hall was built by Bess of Hardwick, Elizabethan England's second richest woman, and has survived almost unchanged. Inside the atmospheric Hall you can see Europe's finest collection of 16th- and 17th-century embroideries and tapestries. The award-winning 'Threads of Time' exhibition tells visitors the story of Bess and the collections in the Hall. Tranquil walled courtyards enclose the fragrant restored herb garden, orchards and lawns. In the historic parkland you can explore the Stone Centre and learn about the traditional craft of stonemasonry, enjoy the walks and trails and see rare breeds of cattle and sheep. In the grounds you can also visit the remains of Hardwick Old Hall, which Bess continued to use after her new house was built.

Photo Walks with Wildlife Expert Paul Hobson

Our Photo Walks will include the flora & fauna of Hardwick Park (whatever we come across on the day, which might include butterflies, dragonflies, waterfowl and a variety of wild flowers), with common lizards and toads in the classroom. You will have help using the features of your camera from Jan Slack and advice on wildlife photography from Paul Hobson, Amateur Photographer's Masterclass Wildlife Expert. There will be opportunities to review your shots throughout the day.
