Anna has now led THREE trips to Iceland, through Anna Henly Photography, for the enthusiastic, passionate and energetic Going Digital photographer and friends! Anna is the owner of Going Digital Scotland where she has thoroughly enjoyed teaching hundreds of students how to use their “complicated” cameras and get them thinking and snapping away like a pro.

Anna has travelled the world with her camera and is looking forward to introducing you to some truly awesome destinations. Anna has won many photographic awards during her photographic career including three wildlife awards in the "BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year" competition at the Natural History Museum in London: an Arctic fox, a polar bear and a tropical tree!

Numerous Scottish students have asked Anna how to photograph the Northern Lights so she decided that her first tour would be a trip to Iceland to capture the spectacular Northern Lights. The first trip in November 2017 came with the warning: there won’t be much sleep on this trip ......she arranged an exhilarating programme during the day to see some of Iceland’s most beautiful scenery including glaciers and geysers. Volcanic Iceland has it all. It is the land of ICE and FIRE. Because it lies on the "auroral oval" it provides maximum, although NOT guaranteed, chance to witness this marvellous natural spectacle!

A full gallery of images from the November 2017 trip can be seen here: Iceland 2017 picture gallery

If you look back through the Going Digital Scotland Facebook page for November 2018 and November 2019 you will see images from each day of the 2018 and 2019 trips.

In November 2020 there will be a FOURTH phototrip to Iceland (if there are sufficient numbers). It will comprise eight full photography days, round the whole of Iceland, including the magical North Iceland. Add an additional day if you wish to see Reykjavik in a leisurely fashion. And two aeroplane days - if your flight arrives early/departs late you will have time to see Reykjavik! Participants need to be fully fit and secure walking on rough ground which may be icy or snowy. Conditions can be VERY cold, icy or wet, and dark.

These costs include just about EVERYTHING (EXCEPT transfer to Reykjavik hotel from the airport d/t different flight times), and you can get away without spending a single kronur on top of the trip price if you are on a strict budget (EXCEPT a tip for the driver please!) and can survive without coffees in the few cafes/petrol stations we stop at. The price includes Easyjet flights, accommodation in SINGLE rooms, full board including packed lunches, minibus and driver, and me! Mandatory travel insurance is extra.

Although these phototrips are NOT formal photography courses there is often time in the evening to review images on my laptop, discuss techniques, and ask questions in the field and on the minibus between locations! Ideally you will have done a "Part 1 - Get off Auto" course, a "Part 2 - Developing Skills" and maybe an "Introduction to Landscape" course so that you will really be able to consolidate your knowledge in Iceland, rather than start from scratch! And you will have learned a bit about what gear you will want to take BEFORE you leave the UK! All the Going Digital regions offer these courses, although it would lovely to see you in Scotland beforehand and get to know you.

Anna Henly Photography's Iceland tours are arranged with leading education travel  company: Discover the World Education, a fully bonded UK tour operator which provides its clients with 100% financial protection when travelling. International flights MUST be booked through Discover the World Education and customised extensions can be arranged on request. Holiday insurance is MANDATORY.

Please contact Anna with your questions and to make a reservation. The price pp is based on a student group size of 10, plus Anna Henly. This includes flight from the UK, full board, and minibus transport in Iceland. The accommodation is in SINGLE rooms, with a discount available for anyone sharing. In the first instance a REFUNDABLE deposit of £300 (by BACS to Anna Henly) is required to book your place. Once the flights are released in March this will become NON-REFUNDABLE as the money will then be transferred to Discover the World to BOOK the flights, by which time we need to have our intrepid photographers gathered. Further installments and final balance due dates to be advised.
