What will I learn:

• F-stops- we explain what they are and how to use them creatively to create both that dreamy background blur and to ensure your landscapes all in focus

• Focussing- we'll show you you how to tell your camera what to focus on to get those elusive shots with pin point accuracy

• White balance- how to change the colours in your photo if they're not what you see or what you want

• Exposure Compensation- learn how to make your photos brighter or darker with no need for editing

• Buttons and dials- we'll help you understand what they do, how to change them and how and when to use them so that you have a better understanding of and feel more confident with your camera

Here's what you can expect from the day:

• A fun, sociable and educational day, running from 10.30am until 4pm

• Tuition from an experienced professional photographer and course notes emailed to you afterwards to support your learning

• Both classroon and practical time, so that you get the best of both worlds and get the most from the day no matter what your learning style

• A review of images at the end of the day, with lots of opportunities to ask any questions

In this workshop, you will learn how to create and expose for those stunning ‘smooth water’ images, how to use polarising and ND filters, and we will also look at the art of composition and how to best capture the surroundings of Padley Gorge.

There will be a Zoom presentation in the week leading up to the workshop, which is usually on a Tuesday evening, and the practical part of the workshop, which lasts around three and a half hours, will take place on the morning of 19th April at Padley Gorge. There will be plenty of time on the day to review your images; however, you can also opt for a short personal review over Zoom. Joining instructions will be emailed to you around a week beforehand, so you know where to meet, what time, and what to bring.

Filters are provided for you on the day; however, you will need a tripod to make the most of this workshop.

What will I learn:

• Focussing- we'll show you how to tell your camera what to focus on to get those elusive shots with pinpoint accuracy

• Location- we'll help you to look at locations differently, how to get the most from any location, what to look for and where to put your subject

• Light- we help you understand how to see light and how to use it to your best advantage for stunning natural light photos of family and friends

• Composition- we explain some of the main portrait compositional guidelines and show you how to put them into practice

• Fill in flash- we'll show you what fill in flash is, how it works and help you learn how and when to use it

• Reflectors- we look at how and when to use these

What do I need to know?

• You should be confident shooting in Aperture priority to attend this workshop

• It's suitable for any camera apart from smartphones

• You don't need a separate flash - you can use your flash on your camera

There will be a Zoom presentation in the week leading up to the workshop, usually on a Tuesday evening, and the practical part of the workshop, which lasts three hours, will be at White Post Farm on 16th May from 10am until 1pm.

There will be a maximum of five people, so you can get as close as possible to each animal and receive lots of individual attention.

The workshop requires a minimum of 3 people to run; if fewer than 3 attend, your session will roll over to a future date of your choice. The price includes entrance into White Post Farm. Ideally, you'll have been on a Part 1 workshop and have a working knowledge of aperture, ISO and shutter speed. A macro lens would be advantageous.

There will be a Zoom presentation in the week leading up to the workshop, which is usually on a Tuesday evening and the practical part of the workshop, which lasts three hours, will be at White Post Farm on 6th June from 10am until 1pm.

There will be a maximum of five people, to allow you to get as close as possible to each animal and to allow for lots of individual attention.

The workshop requires a minimum of three people to run; if there are less than this, your session will roll over to a future date of your choice. The price includes entrance into White Post Farm. Ideally you'll have been on a Part 1 workshop and have a working knowledge of aperture, ISO and shutter speed. A macro lens would be advantageous.
