After you've booked your session, Louise will contact you for an initial chat about your current level of photography, what you'd like to learn and what photography equipment you have. Louise will also confirm dates and times with you for your one to one. Another person is welcome to join you for the session free of charge and tea, good coffee and chocolate biscuits are standard!

This is a three hour photography experience at White Post Farm in North Nottinghamshire photographing a variety of fascinating creatures such as snakes, tarantulas, lizards, frogs, cockroaches, geckos, stick insects, millipedes and giants snails. Craig, their handler, will be with us to introduce us to them and tell us all about them, along with tutor and photographer Louise, who will guide you through photographing these amazing creatures and will be with you offering advice and guidance on composition to create stunning images, the importance of depth of field in close up work, the use of props and backgrounds, and any technical information or help that you might need. The sessions run from either 10am until 1pm or 2pm until 5pm and limited to five places. There is also a Zoom session to cover theory in the week running up to the practical workshop.

There will be a maximum of five people, to allow you to get as close as possible to each animal and to allow for lots of individual attention.

The workshop requires a minimum of three people to run; if there are less than this, your session will roll over to a future date of your choice. The price includes entrance into White Post Farm. Ideally you'll have been on a Part 1 workshop and have a working knowledge of aperture, ISO and shutter speed. A macro lens would be advantageous.

What will I learn:

• F-stops- we explain what they are and how to use them creatively to create both that dreamy background blur and to ensure your landscapes all in focus

• Focussing- we'll show you you how to tell your camera what to focus on to get those elusive shots with pin point accuracy

• White balance- how to change the colours in your photo if they're not what you see or what you want

• Exposure Compensation- learn how to make your photos brighter or darker with no need for editing

• Buttons and dials- we'll help you understand what they do, how to change them and how and when to use them so that you have a better understanding of and feel more confident with your camera

• A fun, sociable and educational day, running from 10.30am until 4pm

• Tuition from an experienced professional photographer and course notes emailed to you afterwards to support your learning

• Both classroon and practical time, so that you get the best of both worlds and get the most from the day no matter what your learning style
