Join Peter at this wonderful private venue where you can get really close to the birds. You will see a selection of about 20 birds both close up and in flight. As the day goes on, the flight speed will increase but your falconer and tutor are both there to help and advise you. From the famous owls often flown at Longleat to R2 and D2 the hawks who catch tennis balls, to the lovely Yellow Billed Kite which often attracts wild red kites overhead as well; then on to the pair of falcons that will test your photographic skills with their acrobatics and speed!

Join your tutor at Ham Wall on the Somerset Levels for an afternoon and early evening opportunity to photograph the famous STARLING MURMURATIONS as tens of thousands of birds come in to roost for the night. Don't forget to listen to the noise as well as watching and photographing the amazing shapes created by these birds. You might see the impact of a Marsh Harrier or a buzzard on the murmuring birds! Full details will be sent near the date of the course as the meeting place depends on the latest activity of the birds.

This course will last for about two hours. We will meet at the Aust Services Car Park, at a time to be confirmed nearer the date but it will be just as it is getting dark. You will be able to stand over the M4 at the old Severn Bridge and get some wonderful shots of the long exposure light trails created by the vehicles passing under your feet and over the bridge.

The emphasis is on learning how to get your camera off automatic settings and take control of the photos you produce. This course can be arranged at a venue to suit within a 40 mile radius of Bristol, or can be at our base venue in just off the M4/M5 junction at Almondsbury. As with all of our 121 courses you may bring a friend with you at no extra charge.

This residential is based at the Aberavon Beach Hotel, Aberavon Beach near Port Talbot. It will run from Friday 16th April 2027 until Sunday 18th. The price does not include accommodation and we recommend that you sort this before you book your place on the course. During your time away you will visit a red kite feeding station, the wonderful waterfalls of the Neath Valley and get to see the 3 species of deer at the beautiful Margam Park. Transport will be provided during our time at the hotel.

Join us for a relaxed three-day residential photography experience on Dartmoor, designed for small groups (maximumfour guests) who want to enjoy inspiring locations, friendly company and a well-hosted photographic weekend.This course focuses onexperience and enjoyment rather than formal classroom teaching, giving you time to explore beautiful landscapes while developing your photography in a supportive environment with like-minded people. Over the three days (2-4 July) we will visit a range of Dartmoor locations including reservoirs, rivers, waterfalls, ancient stone circles, dramatic tors and the iconic Dartmoor ponies. A special highlight will be aprivate guided Alpaca walk, offering a unique opportunity to photograph these wonderful animals in a peaceful countryside setting before exploring nearby locations around Tavistock such as St Michael’s Church and Windy Post.
Your host will manage transport and planning throughout the course so you can simply relax, enjoy the scenery and focus on photography. As Dartmoor weather can be unpredictable, the itinerary includesflexibility and alternative optionsif conditions require a change of plan.
Above all, the course aims to provide afriendly, enjoyable photography experience in beautiful surroundings, shared with a small group of enthusiastic photographers.
Accommodation is not included in the course price. Our suggested base is the Travelodge at Whiddon Down, which offers convenient access to the areas we will be visiting. An alternative Travelodge is available at Sourton, and there are several B&B options locally should you prefer different accommodation. We recommend booking your room before confirming your place on the course.
Food is also not included, allowing guests flexibility in their choices. During the day your host will providetea and coffee breaks, giving everyone the opportunity to pause, relax and chat.
At the end of each day there will be an opportunity tomeet for an optional evening meal, providing a relaxed setting to reflect on the day’s photography and enjoy the social side of the course.
Alltransport between photography locations will be provided, meaning there are no additional fuel or parking costs and no need for guests to drive during the course.
Participants should already have a basic understanding of their camera settings and be comfortable shootingoff automatic mode. Completion of ourIntroduction to Photography – Getting off Auto and Movement courses(or equivalent experience) is recommended.
