YorkshireRACE THE WAVES – PHOTOGRAPHY WALK - BRIDLINGTON BEACH
Step back in time for a wonderfully quirky photography experience at Race The Waves, where vintage cars, eccentric custom-built creations, motorbikes and their colourfully dressed drivers and riders take over Bridlington Beach!
We'll begin amongst the vehicles on the beach, capturing the incredible atmosphere, unusual details, larger-than-life characters and candid moments. From beautifully restored classics to some wonderfully bizarre modifications, there's something unexpected around every corner! It's a fantastic opportunity to practise documentary and storytelling photography before the vehicles parade along the sand towards the race area.
We'll then head to the promenade for the racing, where you can practise freezing the action, panning and capturing movement, with plenty of guidance and encouragement from Kate throughout.
This is a relaxed, friendly photowalk where we'll share ideas, explore photographic opportunities and enjoy capturing this spectacular event together.
Skill Level
Skill Level 2 – You should have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter speed and ISO and be comfortable changing your camera settings.
Equipment
A long zoom lens is essential for photographing the racing from a safe distance. A standard or wider-angle lens is also recommended for capturing the vehicles, people and atmosphere up close.
Terrain & Accessibility
We'll be walking approximately 2 miles across the beach and promenade, spending a considerable amount of time on our feet. Sand can be soft and uneven underfoot, and there are steps and ramps between the beach and promenade. Suitable footwear and a reasonable level of mobility are essential.
Important Information
Race The Waves is a busy public event, so patience and flexibility are important, particularly when photographing around crowds.
We'll meet at 8:45am and aim to finish around 1pm. As this is a live event, the parade and racing schedules may change. Participants must be flexible with timings, and refunds cannot be offered due to changes to the advertised event schedule.
Final meeting details will be emailed approximately one week before the photowalk.
And, of course, everyone is welcome to stay afterwards for a coffee and a catch-up — because there's always time for a little Coffee, Cameras & Conversation!
