Course One-to-One Days East Midlands
Perfect Christmas Gift - Tailored 121 3 Hour Photography Experience. If group classes aren't really your thing, this half-day one-to-one session is tailored exclusively for you and is a perfect way to either begin your photography journey, learn new skills or refine your existing ones. The session is with photographer and tutor Louise, based at her Nottingham studio and runs on weekdays. Read More
After you've booked your session, Louise will contact you for an initial chat about your current level of photography, what you'd like to learn and what photography equipment you have. Louise will also confirm dates and times with you for your one-to-one. Another person is welcome to join you for the session free of charge, and tea, good coffee and chocolate biscuits are standard!

Course Introduction to Photography - Get off Auto
Nottingham Studio - maximum of 4 students.If you're stuck on the Auto setting on your camera and frustrated because you're not getting the photos that you want, then this is the course for you! A day long workshop, based in our Nottingham studio, very close to Wollaton Park and easily accessed from the M1, where we banish jargon and explain in plain english how to take control of your camera and get off the Auto setting. This workshop is both classroom and field based, you'll leave with plenty of useful reference materials and a DSLR is available to borrow on the day, subject to availability - please contact Louise Mills on 0776 233 6222 before booking. What will I learn:

F-stops- we explain what they are and how to use them creatively to create both that dreamy background blur and to ensure your landscapes all in focus

Focussing- we'll show you you how to tell your camera what to focus on to get those elusive shots with pin point accuracy

White balance- how to change the colours in your photo if they're not what you see or what you want

Exposure Compensation- learn how to make your photos brighter or darker with no need for editing

Buttons and dials- we'll help you understand what they do, how to change them and how and when to use them so that you have a better understanding of and feel more confident with your camera
Here's what you can expect from the day:

A fun, sociable and educational day, running from 10.30am until 4pm

Tuition from an experienced professional photographer and course notes emailed to you afterwards to support your learning

Course Water & its Moods
Water and Its Moods at Padley Gorge. The light and conditions at this time of year generally make for some beautiful images around Padley Gorge and the surrounding areas, creating a myriad of opportunities to capture some stunning shots of fast-moving water in the most picturesque surroundings. Read More
In this workshop, you will learn how to create and expose for those stunning ‘smooth water’ images, how to use polarising and ND filters, and we will also look at the art of composition and how to best capture the surroundings of Padley Gorge.
There will be a Zoom presentation in the week leading up to the workshop, which is usually on a Tuesday evening, and the practical part of the workshop, which lasts around three and a half hours, will take place on the morning of 19th April at Padley Gorge. There will be plenty of time on the day to review your images; however, you can also opt for a short personal review over Zoom. Joining instructions will be emailed to you around a week beforehand, so you know where to meet, what time, and what to bring.
Filters are provided for you on the day; however, you will need a tripod to make the most of this workshop.
