PHOTOGRAPHY DAY AT HAREWOOD ESTATE Landscapes • Wildlife • Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Access
Join us for a unique photography experience exploring the hidden corners of Harewood Estate, with exclusive access to areas not normally open to the public, 10am - 3pm.
I'll be on hand throughout the day to help you get the most from your camera, offering guidance on camera settings, composition and creative techniques, while Harewood Estate's Outdoor Education Officer, John Gillian, shares his incredible knowledge of the estate, its history, landscapes and wildlife. If there's something to know about Harewood, John knows it!
Travelling around the estate on the access trailer, we'll enjoy a relaxed day stopping wherever inspiration strikes. We'll photograph beautiful autumn landscapes, ancient trees and rolling parkland, with opportunities to photograph some of the estate's much-loved residents, including the Highland cattle, the famous Cyril the pig and, if nature is on our side, the red deer during the autumn rut.
As Harewood is a working estate and the wildlife is free to roam, every visit is different. While we can't guarantee which animals we'll encounter, John knows the estate inside out and always gives us the very best chance of finding fantastic photographic opportunities.
Around lunchtime we'll pause for a packed lunch in one of the estate's most scenic locations (weather permitting), where we're often treated to the sight of red kites soaring overhead.
This workshop is ideal for photographers who are comfortable using Aperture Priority or Manual Mode and would like to develop their landscape and wildlife photography in a truly special setting.
What to Bring
Camera
Telephoto lens (200mm or longer recommended for wildlife)
Standard or wide-angle lens (24–70mm or similar for landscapes)
Tripod
Graduated filters if you have them (we'll also have some available to borrow)
Packed lunch and refreshments
Skill Level: 2
Joining Instructions
Meeting details and full joining instructions will be emailed approximately one week before the workshop.
Terrain & Accessibility
We'll spend much of the day travelling around the estate on the access trailer, which allows us to reach a variety of fantastic photographic locations without long walks.
However, there will still be periods of walking over uneven ground, including fields, woodland paths and rough terrain, as we leave the trailer to photograph different areas of the estate.
To enjoy the workshop comfortably, you'll need to be able to get on and off the trailer unaided and walk short distances across uneven ground. We recommend sturdy, waterproof footwear and clothing suitable for the weather.

Dates* for the walks will be published in early 2027 but please ask the recipient to keep in mind that these are likely to be around late April and early May.
*based on when the bluebells were in optimum condition in 2026.
Please note that the beauty of bluebell photo-walks is intimately tied to the whims of nature, including weather conditions. While we strive to schedule our walks during optimal bloom periods, the vibrancy of bluebells can be influenced by factors such as sunlight, temperature, and recent rainfall. In extreme cases we may need to reschedule a date in order to provide the best experience possible. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we celebrate the wonders of nature together
