A tailored one to one on a mutually agreed date, weekends only, with experienced tutor and professional photographer Iain. We will contact you within 48 hours of the booking to discuss dates and chat about what you would like to cover. Another person is welcome to join you free of charge.

Alnwick Garden Close-Up & Compostion Photo Walk
Enjoy a walk around the contemporary and inspirational Alnwick Garden. You'll learn how to take close-up shots of the abundant flora, learning more about compositonal techniques and perfecting exposure to create great floral portraits. Suitable for all types of camera and skill level. Ideally you will need a tripod for this workshop. This workshop is completley outdoors. Entrance fee included in price. Workshop runs from 10am - 3pm. Limited to 6 students.
Join us this June for this seasonal spectacular on the Farne Islands. Simply a fantastic day out for any wildlife photographer. An excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in seabird photography for the whole day and either learn new skills or improve existing ones. You'll have plenty of chances to take great close-up and flying shots of puffins terns razorbills and guillemots to name but a few! Limited to just 8 students with tuition given throughout the day. Meeting at Seahouses harbour for 8.45am and returning between 4-5pm approx. Boat fee included in price. National Trust landing fees apply for non-members.

We will contact you within 48 hours of the booking to discuss what you would like to cover on the day. Another person is welcome to join you free of charge.

A full day of photography at the stunning location of Low Force Waterfall. We will look at ways to improve your compositional skills, as well as how to use graduated filters to control bright skies and neutral density filters to blur the waterfalls to give that silky effect. Graduated and ND filters are provided if you don't have your own. We will expect to walk approx. 2 miles total during the day some of the ground will be rough and uneven. Suitable for anyone having attended our Part 2 course or competent in using aperture priority. Our base will be the classroom at Bowleees Visitor Centre, however most of the day will be spent outside with an image review at the end of the day. Runs 10am-4pm.
HAWK & HOUND PHOTOGRAPHY DAY
A unique chance to photograph owls falcons and hawks plus 3 different types of dogs in this simply stunning location in the heart of Teesdale. With exclusive access to a private estate in an idyllic setting with the River Tees running through it we have the opportunity to photograph the dogs running in open fields jumping fences and walls and having a great time swimming in the river! Due to the terrain we are able to have the advantage of height to be either at eye level or look down on the birds for some great flying shots. This course is suitable for anyone who is comfortable shooting in aperture priority and continuous focusing mode. Tuition will be given throughout the day. Two Nikon DSLR cameras and one 70-300m lens available to loan free of charge subject to availability - please request on booking form
Master shutter speed to blur and freeze motion and take great action shots and learn how to cope with tricky lighting conditions. Plus we'll show you a few creative techniques with long exposures.
Taking a relaxed walk around the reserve we'll make the most of the opportunities that come our way, you'll learn how to use your camera to take great portraits of the birds and otters and learn more about compositional techniques. Suitable for all skill levels and cameras. There is no classroom session for this course. Entrance fee is included in the price. Limited to 8 students.
Introduction to Birds of Prey Photography at Walworth Castle. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to compose natural portraits of owls, hawks and falcons at Walworth Castle Birds of Prey Centre. Morning and afternoon sessions in the centre and around the Castle grounds allow for plenty of time to put into practice your newly learnt skills with the ultimate challenge of capturing images of these stunning birds in flight. There are 2 Nikon DSLR cameras plus one Nikon 70-300m lens available for loan free of charge - please request on booking form. Sandwich lunch included.
Learn how to use neutral density filters (provided) and polarising filters to capture fast flowing water in all its forms at this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of Low Force Waterfall nr Middleton-in-Teesdale.
