Here is some of the feedback we have received from students following our workshops and one-to-one training:

Just a short email to thank you for an excellent course last Friday at Lacock.  I've learnt more in those 6 hours, about my camera and it's functions, than in the 18 months since I bought it.  Hope to see you in Winchester on 1 August for Part 2.

I just wanted to drop you a quick email to thank you for a very enjoyable and extremely interesting workshop last weekend.  I came to the workshop with an expectation of what I might learn and you more than met that expectation.

Going Digital provide great courses. The Introduction to Wildlife Photography is excellent! Jan and John provide information, guidance, advice and feedback in a constructive and easily understood manner to all participants on the course in a way that you cannot find else where. When photographing the wildlife, which always perform well and seem to also enjoy the experience, help and guidance is always at hand. If you are new to digital photography or have some experience you will find these courses invaluable and very enjoyable.

I just wanted to write and thank all the tutors who ran the Explore your Digital SLR part 2 at Hardwick Hall on May 16th 2009. It was a really enjoyable informative day.  After completing the exercises for blurring and freezing motion using spinning umbrellas, I was inspired to go and photograph moving water at Padley Gorge. This was something I wanted to try out for a while, but didn't have the knowledge to get the results I wanted. I am sending two photos, one with an exposure time of 2 seconds, and one with an exposure time of 1/400th second.  I look forward to doing other courses in the future.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the level 1 course at Burghley House today, 15 May 09.  Rod ran the workshop very well and it was just what I needed to fill in knowledge gaps on the quest to improve my photography.  I look forward to the level 2 course next month and intend to continue my training over time in the hope that one day I can become a good photographer.  I think the Going Digital workshops represent excellent value for money with excellent teaching, thank you!

Ian was fantastic and the choice of venue was just lovely.  I did not know I was doing the course until the day before, my husband had booked it for me as a surprise, so I did not have a clue what to expect, but on arrival Ian made me feel very comfortable and at ease.  I enjoyed the day very much, and hope to do some more of the courses you have on offer.  Ian has helped me with some advice on a new camera and helped answer a few questions I have had since Sunday, its nice to know it didn't just end that day.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for today, the course was excellent and exceeded my expectations. I have learnt so much and having the practical aspect with the tutor support aided my learning.   The group session reviewing each others images gave us all an insight to composition.   I now feel confident in never using an auto mode again!  This has increased my passion and will be seeking a full spec SLR and will look forward to the level 2 course.

Thank you for a most entertaining, informative and pacey course last Friday. Although we were both on a steep learning curve, it was good to find the world beyond 'auto'!  We shall be back.

I just wanted to thank you for a brilliant day at the workshop in Portsmouth today. I learnt so much and it was great to be able to practice in such an interesting setting. I'm downloading the photos and will review all the settings and see what worked well and what didn't. Having invested in an SLR camera it's great to be able to be a little creative, rather than just taking "snapshots".  I've already ordered Tamron 28-300 lens (thanks for the tip) and have booked a place on the 27th June Winchester course. By then, especially with the new lens, I should have had a chance to practice some of the things I learnt today and will be ready for the next steps! Thanks again and look forward to seeing you in June.

"Dear Danielle..  I just wanted to thank you for the excellent course last Saturday. I greatly enjoyed getting to grips with my camera and sorting out the digital "fug". I do realise I have only just scraped the surface and have a long way to go but it's got me started on the right road!".

"I have just spent two most enjoyable and worthwhile weekends doing the SLR2, Landscape and Portraits courses run by Rod Corston. I now have a good understanding of how my camera works and the settings I should use to provide the best results. No more setting the camera to automatic and taking snaps for me. The presentations where excellent and hard copies of the slides were given to each student thus reducing the need for copious note taking. The practical exercises were well constructed and assistance was readily available should it be required. Information and advice was readily available on lenses, reflectors, which tripod to buy etc.  Rod's experience as a lecturer was evident on each course as he delivered information, knowledge, experience, advice and humour at a pace that was just right. Nothing was too much trouble. I shall certainly book some more courses in the areas that interest me".

"Thanks for tutoring the very accessible Explore Your Digital SLR Part 1 course the other weekend. It has really made the numbers at the back of my camera a lot less intimidating and will help me to get more out of my camera".

"It was a really good weekend and very enjoyable, the models were great as well.  It was nice to be able to shoot in RAW and try it out.  I have spoken to a few people this week about your courses and how good they are, one being our accountant and the other a manager of a hotel that I am doing a shoot at next week, also my photography group all might be interested in the macro course coming out later in the year.  I told them that the handouts are very good, easy to use and the fact that most of the day is hands on, makes it so much easier to find out how to use the camera properly.  I have learnt more in the last few sessions with you than I have in the last 18 months".

Just to say many thanks for your expert tuition and advice again today; it's very re-assuring to have someone as experienced and passionate about a subject as you are.

We really enjoyed the Landscape Part 2 course at Hardwick last weekend and are already looking forward to the next one!

Thank you for an interesting and informative course on Saturday.  My camera certainly has many more facilities than I realized.  I was so 'fired up' with enthusiasm I actually parked the car in a supermarket car park in Stowmarket on the way home, to photograph a hot air balloon which was floating overhead!

"Thank you for the fabulous training yesterday at Clumber Park.  I very much enjoyed sharing new camera experiences with other like minded people.  Learning the manual with your instant fix sheet was marvellous and to come off the "point and press mode" was far easier than I dreamed. Roll on Part 2".

Just to say that we enjoyed the ‘Get more from your compact camera’ workshop at Clumber Park on 14/9 /08. We had a fair way to come  but it was well worth it, as we  found it a very useful and practical day. You will see us back for another day, we’re sure.

Thank you for a great day on Saturday.  Although I have already attended several Going Digital workshops and am confident that I can get just the right depth of field in my shots, this workshop really opened my eyes to the potential for creating different effects using shutter speed.  It also helped me to understand a lot more about my camera and how to get good shots in difficult conditions and it was great to meet some old friends from previous workshops.  Thank you once again!

I would definitely recommend the “Introduction to Wildlife Photography” course at Going Digital.  Jan & John were very helpful and only taught you what you needed to know about your camera, rather than being bogged down with the piles of information in the instruction manual!  I learnt so much about my camera in such a short time and came away with images I never thought I’d be able to take.  A word of warning though – when they say you’ll be wiping tiger breath off your lens ….. they mean it !

I enjoyed the day and found that it gave me a good basis to build from.  The initial information giving session is invaluable as a starting point for exploring your own camera and how to get the best from it.  Alistair is very knowledgeable and endlessly patient......a great recipe for a good teacher.

I thoroughly enjoyed the day at Cotehele and was extremely impressed with the standard of the course.  I learned more in the morning alone than on previous courses which I had attended over a series of 8 weeks!  I found Alistair extremely easy to follow and understand and would be very interested in attending another course at some time to expand my knowledge further.  I am now much more confident and look forward to putting this knowledge into practice.  I would definitely recommend this course to others.

I just wanted to say thanks for the recent DSLR course that i attended at Heligan, I really enjoyed the course and it gave me a great deal more confidence to get the pictures I wanted to take, rather than just experimenting.  I'd also love to know if you have any more courses coming up, I'd especially like to see one on portraits.

This workshop was really helpful in taking me from basic Auto mode pictures to taking limited control of the options within the camera settings - even to discovering the menu settings!  To be told that I can set my camera to Aperture priority and develop the same picture at slightly different f-settings was also an advantage.  Practical shots in a beautiful setting was a bonus.

Just returned from an "Explore Your Digital SLR Part 1" workshop at Chirk Castle presented by Jean Napier. I was a bit apprehensive that I might find the course too difficult, but Jean soon dispelled any fears and I found the course both relaxed and informative. If, like me, you never get out of "auto" then this is the course for you. Looking forward to practising everything taught on the course and booking another.

Thank you very much for the course today. I especially liked the fact that it was approached in a non-threatening way. I felt at ease and able to ask what could have been very obvious questions to some people. I am now looking forward to applying all the rules, hints and tips on my next photography outing!  I have also attached a photo. Having looked at a lot of my photos I wish i could go back with my new knowledge and try again!!!

The portrait course on 8th August at Hardwick Hall was fantastic.  The volunteers were extremely obliging and so nice to work with.   I learnt a lot from the day, especially the morning session when we had to direct the other members of our team where to stand etc.   I would like to say a huge thank you to you all.  It was a great day, thoroughly enjoyable and informative.

Having attended a number of Going Digital workshops in the past, the portraiture in natural light, (held at Hardwick Hall on 08/08/2008) proceeded in the usual way.  Jan made a presentation on how to achieve a good portrait, and what to look for when taking the portrait shot, and the settings on the camera. This was followed by a short practical session, when the participants of the workshop can check that they know, and fully understand, how to set up and adjust the camera settings.

We then worked our way through a worksheet, by taking pictures of other workshop participants. Where we attempted the practical application of the skills we had been shown. This was quickly followed by a short critique. In order to highlight the mistakes we all made, in order for us not to make them at the main event of the day. The day was dry and cloudy (so no contrast problems (black eyes, shadow under the chins etc.).

The main event was amazing!!!!  In the grandeur of the main entrance to Hardwick Hall, stood five ladies and two gentlemen and one poor scullery maid, all dressed in Elizabethan clothing. The Ladies in the finely embroidered dresses, the gentlemen in their finery (and the scullery maid, she had a shawl and a bucket).  The afternoon just flew by; it was both exhilarating and exhausting. All of the ladies and gentlemen (and scullery maid) were most helpful and co-operative.  At the end of what seemed to be five minutes, we adjourned back to the park centre for the final picture review. This was to show that all of the workshop participants had some good shots.  My thanks to you Jan for all of your help and guidance, but it has to be said, most of all my thanks to the ALL of the Ladies and Gentlemen of Hardwick Hall.  Hey Jan when’s the next one?

Travel And Landscape Photography Workshop. Nostell Priory. Keith Naylor.

This course exceeded expectation with it's blend of theory and practical delivered by a man who is so passionate about the subject matter that he crosses the borderline into obsession. But wow does it pay off. Big time. Keith's images are breathtakingly beautiful. His knowledge of the subject beyond the pale. His enthusiasm infectious. His willingness to pass his knowledge on a gift. This workshop should be high on anyone's list as the principles of composition and depth of field are invaluable to all photographic genre, not just landscapes.

Portraits In Natural Light. Hardwick House, Jan Slack.

This was an absolute treat. Punchy. Crisp. Professional. Impressively delivered in a relaxed environment amongst the most gorgeous of settings. This lady knows her subject and knows it well. Framed by the theory which was taught at the start of the day, this course culminated in an amazing opportunity to photograph a number of volunteer models in authentic period costume around a stunning National Trust property. When we reviewed what we had achieved at the end of the day, every single member of the group had some images which were  simply outstanding. To go from pretty much a standing start to outstanding in the space of a few hours is clear testament to the quality of the tuition on this workshop. Highly recommended. Can't wait to book another!

Just a short note to say thank you for a really great day yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. You have really helped me to understand some of the features of my camera that have baffled me over the last few months. I very much appreciated the simplicity of your explanations, your willingness to answer all questions and the practical help you gave. I certainly have lots to practice over the coming weeks!

I would definitely like to do the composition course and wondered whether I could reserve a place for the course you have advertised for the 7 September?

Thank you for an enjoyable and informative day at Clumber Oark today.  I found it to be excellent and will help me to produce better photographs.  I will be recommending you to friends and anyone who wants to improve their photography.  Thank you again.

I joined the nice small group at Anglesey Abbey on 15 July 08 for the "Explore Your Digital SLR Part 1" course with Rod Corston. I really enjoyed the day - it gave me a lot of confidence.  I think I now understand what mistakes I have been making and hopefully will be able to avoid them in future.  I also have learned how to find out what I was actually doing right to make some of the good images I had achieved before!  The follow-up Email information from Rod was also very useful and informative.  Thanks again.  I shall definitely be coming on some future courses.

Just letting you know how much Jenny and I enjoyed the course yesterday.  I spent the rest of yesterday evening reading my manual thoroughly and taking photos in my garden.  I'm amazed how many incorrect assumptions I had made about my camera. I now feel in control of my camera and by looking at photos on my PC as soon as I took them I was able to see the difference made by changing the settings. I will also know what to look for when I make my next camera purchase - which I'm sure I will do soon as I feel really excited about moving on to thinking about composition.

I'd like to say thank you to Rod for the one to one training session on studio photography that I received in April. The training was invaluable. Rod had the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness, and worked to ensure that all of the learning objectives I had identified were achieved by the end of the day.

Since the training I have gone on to apply what I learnt, and this has been helpful along my route to where I am now-practising professionally from my own studio. Rod has continued to support me and on numerous occasions he has provided me with insight and knowledge on a broad range of photography issues. The combination of the training and the 'aftercare' has exceeded my expectations, and it was definitely money well-spent.  My web address is www.takemyphoto.co.uk.

Thanks for a great course yesterday, I really enjoyed it and the photos I took are far better than any of the others I'd managed until now. Are there any places available on the composition course at Fountains Abbey on the 7th September?

Just a quick note to thank you and Andy for a lovely day on Saturday.  It's a rare treat for me to get out with my camera, and I did enjoy the company and the opportunity to practice some landscape photography. I also thought the course was very well structured as well as being friendly and relaxing.  It was a good reminder of many of the things I have forgotten and how much I still have to learn, but I will be as proactive as possible in the coming months to educate myself and try new things.  Please let me know if you will be running any advanced courses, and of course I will look forward to seeing you at the Petworth House event.

I thought I would just send you an email to let you know how much I enjoyed and learnt on the architecture workshop at Calke Abbey on Saturday.  I've now attend 3 of your workshops, getting to know your SLR, composition and architecture, I have found all the courses enjoyable and informative with a very friendly atmosphere.  I feel the structure of the day works well and I especially like the critique of photos at the end of the day and I always feel I've made an improvement.  I now just have to get in some practice and start looking at which workshop I want to do next.

Thanks so much for a superb workshop.  It has answered my main questions and given me the confidence to try some new stuff.  I now understand some of the techy stuff in the magazines!   See you again soon.

Just to say thank you again for the great course at Clumber Park yesterday.  I learnt so much and really enjoyed the course structure i.e. plenty of time to do the practical stuff (which is what we're all trying to improve!) and the critique at the end, it worked very well for me.  As I mentioned, there are some very expensive courses around but without the personal tuition/feedback, so I really think you've structured the course well.  And people seem to do several of your courses which is the best feedback really.

I really enjoyed the course at Clumber.  It was very well presented and pitched at just the right level for a complete novice.  Thank you very much.

Dear Tish,  I just wanted to drop you a quick email to say a huge “Thank you!” to both yourself and Andy for yesterday. The course was an excellent kick-start to digital photography and a real insight into what is possible given some time and knowledge. I can honestly say that the day was a real inspiration and I think I’m hooked.

The whole day was excellent – pitched at just the right level, with plenty of time for questions and explanations. Both the theory and practical aspects of the day were spot on. You and Andy made the atmosphere of the day lovely and relaxed which also helped I think – everyone seemed happy to interact, ask questions, and contribute – that’s not an easy thing to accomplish as a trainer.

I now feel that I am beginning to get to grips with my camera and have the confidence to go out and experiment without feeling like a complete numpty. I am also looking forward to enjoying more day courses and am on the hunt for the next adventure.

You have taken the fear out of experimenting with photography – thank you!

Thanks Jan for yesterday, it was very inspirational and such a lot of worthwhile technical info and so much incidental 'stuff'.  Hope that the rest of your courses go as well as Hardwick and Malc and I are both looking forward to meeting up with you again and are already spreading the word!

Hi KeithI just wanted to say thank you for today’s course.  It was one of the most enjoyable and rewarding courses I have been on.  I started the course very apprehensive about changing settings on my camera and left confident in being able change settings to get a better picture, as well as having a much better understanding of its capabilities and functions.  I would be grateful if you would let me know when there are future courses planned for Nostell Priory as I intend to be there!!!  Once again many thanks for your help and advice, I look forward to attending the next instalment!

Many thanks for another informative day. I have certainly learnt a lot in the last month now I need to put it into practice. You certainly gave me plenty to think about.  Please could you keep me informed of any courses that you think may be of interest.

Many thanks a brilliant day I can now use my camera to its full after a little practice.

Hi Jean, just thought I'd drop you a quick email to thank you for a great day at Longshaw on Saturday. The way you organised the weather window was extraordinary!  In all seriousness both Ian and myself found the whole day incredibly informative without being too technical and the format seems to work very well. I went out on Sunday to a place I've photographed many many times before but, this time, I spent more time thinking about my subject and framing it and the difference in the photographs was very noticeable. (even the wife thought a couple were good, high praise indeed!)I'm sure we'll both be meeting you again in the near future.

Thank you very much for the excellent course on 8th March. It set me on the path to knowing my camera and I am really enjoying taking photos now.

Just a message of thanks to yourself and John  for a very informative and enjoyable day on Saturday. It has really encouraged me to believe that I can produce something of worth with my camera.    I shall no doubt be back in the future to learn more.

Just wanted to thank you for an enjoyable day yesterday.   I'm really glad I came along!  I'd definitely recommend your workshops to anyone!

Firstly may I say how much I enjoyed the Composition course yesterday.  I left the course feeling that I had learnt a great deal in the course of the day and that I was excited about trying to put it into practice.

Thank you for a great day last Tuesday at Clumber park. I learnt such a lot about my camera and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Thanks for all the advice at the workshop at Hardwick on the 22nd with you and John – I learned a lot and really enjoyed the day. My pictures have definitely improved as a result. It’s amazing what a difference a bit of expert help can make.

I would like to thank you for an excellent course on Saturday.  I learnt much more than I had anticipated and I am very keen to progress.

Thanks again for the course today. It was  very beneficial, well constructed and delivered.  I will endeavour to go to a local National Trust park and give it another go!

First of all many thanks once again to you and John for a first class day at Hardwick Hall on Saturday.  The weather couldn’t have been better and I always leave your workshops thinking “that was money well spent”.

A quick note to say thank-you for the Hamerton Zoo workshop on Thursday... I found it a great insight into wildlife photography.  The fill-in flash techniques and background control techniques were really inspiring, and the white tiger illustrated well the need to take care when photographing wildlife!

Just wanted to say thanks again for the course yesterday. It was the first photography course of any type I have been on so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I really enjoyed the day though, and although there were a lot of pictures which didn't quite come out right, I am really happy with a few of them. One of the main things was learning to use the histogram when trying to work out the exposure compensation as previously it has been a bit of guess work (not really understanding what the graph meant too).  It was very good to get the access we had to such beautiful animals and the staff at the zoo were brilliant too.

Just wanted to send you an email to say that I absolutely loved the workshop yesterday at Hamerton.  Please can you pass on my thanks and comments to John who was a great help too!!  Got some amazing photos!!!

I just wanted to say thank you for the brilliant workshop at Hardwick Hall on Wednesday. I really learnt a lot and look forward to putting it all into practice in the future.  Hopefully I will see you at some more workshops next year.

Many thanks for a fantastic day – I really enjoyed it and learnt a lot about how to use my camera – when I have practiced a bit more I will definitely do another one.

I just wanted to say a tremendous thank you for the course I recently attended at Calke Abbey,  "EXPLORE THE FEATURES OF YOUR DIGITAL CAMERA".    It was a great day and I really enjoyed meeting the group of people that were there on the day.     Unfortunately, it was that good, I went out and purchased a Canon Digital SLR camera!

Many thanks for a great day on Thursday, you gave us both a lot to think about!!  We are now confirmed 'camera buffs'!

Just a note to say 'thank you' for such an interesting, informative and enjoyable day at Hamerton.

I'd like to thank you and John for a great day at Hamerton the other week.  I learned a lot and now I just need to find time to put it into practice.

I've just been looking at your website and have noticed the 'Comments' section for the first time (you'd have thought photography would have made me more observant!!).  So I'm taking the opportunity to add my comment .......

Having lost a degree of interest in photography over the years, the purchase of a digital SLR, on a whim, has fuelled my enthusiasm once again.  I was looking for courses on which to learn the intricacies of my new camera and, luckily, stumbled across Going Digital.  I have since attended several courses e.g. getting to know the camera, landscape, architecture, wild life, to name but a few and the majority at National Trust properties, which is a bonus.  The teaching style of Jan Slack is excellent.  In a relaxed atmosphere, she imparts her great knowledge of photography in an easy to understand manner and the practical sessions, with her guidance, are a joy.  I shall definitely be signing up for some more courses in the future (you can never stop learning, can you?) and I can thoroughly recommend Jan's courses to anyone who wants to get the best out of their digital cameras.

Thank you, Jan, for the courses I've done so far.  Putting it all into practice and getting out there to do it is an enjoyable challenge.

What a fantastic course.  I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed the day and as soon as I got home, took the camera off round the village with my son and showed him all I'd learnt!   All pics have now been down loaded onto my laptop and I'm raring to go again!   Have to say, thought your style of teaching was spot on and you made something which for a long time had seemed so very confusing, much less so.

Just wanted to say thank you for the course, I really did enjoy it and felt I learnt a great deal. Hope to meet you again on another of your courses, hopefully one on Elements or PhotoShop.

I've attached a photo that I took on Monday; it's not something I would even have thought about taking before the course on Sunday. I think as much as anything the courses have helped me to look for opportunities to take pictures and use my eyes more effectively.

Just a note to thank you for your guidance at the Hardwick workshop which has re-kindled past enthusiasms and shown the way forward. The possibilities are endless - just need the time to develop the skills and overcome the fumbling.  Maybe next week - I am off to northern Spain with the new photo incentives....  I hope to join another course in the future.

Many thanks for the landscape workshop at Clumber Park.  I was able to pick up a number of inspirational ideas pertaining to contrast, identify your subject, know your location and differing lighting conditions can make or destroy a picture.  Many thanks again.  Could I please book in for two more workshops?

Just a quick note to say a huge thanks for the day on Saturday at Calke Abbey.  I learnt a great deal.  I will  definitely be coming to Hardwick Hall.

Just a note to say a big ‘thank you’ to you and your colleagues for a most useful and enjoyable day. The course did what it said it would do – and more. I am now looking forward to finding opportunities to put it all into practice.

Thanks for the workshop at Hardwick today…I really enjoyed the day and got lots more than I anticipated.

Thank you for yesterday's workshop I found it very useful and informative and I fully intend to attend others in the near future.  I now have to practice what I learnt!

Just a brief message to say how much we enjoyed the Workshop yesterday (despite the weather).  Can you pass on our thanks to the others involved.  We will be out this weekend in the Peak District putting some of the things we have learned about landscapes into practice.

I am still catching up from the day at Burghley and the one thing I have not done 'til now is to say a personal thank you to you. I was quite impressed by the way we kept to a schedule to pack a lot into the day.   The correspondence between your participants after the event shows how well we worked together and what fun we had out of it - great fun, great value.

Just wanted to say thanks for the workshop last Saturday and to let you how much I’ve enjoyed both workshops I’ve been to at Clumber - they were really excellent and I’ve learned a lot.  As well as being new to digital, my general knowledge of photography is limited so I found the way the days were structured, the teaching/practical parts and constructive review of our efforts all very helpful. I’m looking forward to hearing about next year’s dates and will certainly recommend them to others.

Thank you very much for the days I have attended.  I have really enjoyed them.  I would still like to do a portrait course so please organise some more early next year.

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the workshop at Burghley on Saturday. It was a good day and one in which I learned a great deal about composition and editing.

Following a great session a few days ago I wish to sign up for the November 25th session in Burghley House, could you kindly let me have a booking form.  I now have Photoshop Elements 4 software and am off and running.  Thanks very much.

I have to say once again that I had a really good day and look forward to further workshops to improve my photography, especially with the friendly and knowledgeable guidance that you have.  Once again thank you and look forward to seeing you on the 12th July.

I enjoyed the day, the environment, the company and learned how to get the best from the opportunities available, with positive critique on improving the composition and histograms of photos taken and then to try again to improve the shot, with all the instruction and the falconer being able to alter the environment to improve my photographs.

We all enjoyed the day very much, and got a lot out of it. Jonathan, in particular, has become enthused and inspired by the experience. He spent most of Saturday evening and yesterday taking photos around the garden and then manipulating them on the computer.

I enjoyed learning more about my camera and its different settings and feel more confident as a result of today which has inspired me to carry on improving my photography.  A friendly group and easily approachable tutors.

Thankyou for a wonderful day!!!  Came home and couldn't put my camera down ....Will definitely be booking again.

Firstly, thanks to you and Pete for the workshop yesterday, both my sister and myself enjoyed it very much.  As discussed, I would like to attend the "Architectural" workshop at Belton on 6th May.  Would you be kind enough to reserve a place for me.

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed last Saturdays course - it certainly helped to add to my very limited knowledge - would like to be included in the "editing" course later in the year.

Thank you very much for last Saturday.  I found the day informative, interesting and enjoyable.  I would like to attend the workshop on 3 June at Clumber.  Do hope you still have a place.

Just a line to say thank you for the day at Belton House, I certainly learned a lot! I am looking forward to my next one at Clumber Park June 17th.

Anthea’s story – a year in the life of a Going Digital student 2006!

Jan 2006 – I had at this stage a Kodak compact camera – simply able to switch on point and shoot. No real use of the full scope of the camera except the occasional turn of the program dial in hope that it captured the image. Needless to say the delete button was used on many occasions – one of the great advantages of digital over film!

I wanted to develop my skills and was keen and enthusiastic to pursue photography but didn’t know where to start until I received the National Trust magazine at the beginning of this year and saw the day courses advertised – this was to be my first contact with Jan and Going Digital.

The first day course I attended was at Belton house in Lincolnshire – both Jan and Peter, the tutors, instantly made me feel at ease and with the limited group size there was plenty of time for hands on work and expert advice and guidance from the tutors on an individual basis.  I was amazed at how much I had learnt that day and what I could achieve with my compact camera and a little more knowledge.

The day courses have been designed to allow for time to do some photography and then also to have experience of editing – they are also stand alone so that you could do one or book for several as each covers different photographic aspects of the National Trust properties and other places of interest.

June 06  - Since that first course I have been on a number of the other days both at Clumber Park and Burghley house. Each course has provided me with a positive learning experience and extended my skills and knowledge so much so that I have since had the confidence to upgrade my camera to a Kodak bridge camera to give me more scope with my photography. When I needed help and support in using my new camera I only had to look on the Going Digital web site and I found the course Getting More from Your Camera run by Jan that met my needs.

Sept 06  - My images have most definitely improved both in composition and technical detail through my attendance on the courses - in September I sent some of my images to the local paper after they asked readers to send in pictures of local scenes and two have been published.  I admit that I felt a huge sense of achievement in seeing the images in print.    Since they were published I have gone on to sell copies of one of the images!

November 06 – The last course of the year for me with Going Digital – Christmas photography – looking at festive still life techniques and ways to produce Christmas cards – it will end the year in a very positive note and I hope to produce an image and cards for all the family to mark my achievements over this year.

I will of course be registering for some of the courses next year as I know that Going Digital will again have a very full and interesting programme offering some unique photography opportunities.

Workshop reviews

"Going Digital workshops represent excellent value for money with excellent teaching".
