Close-up & Macro
Edinburgh

We meet at the Anna Henly Photography studio for macro technique tuition, before driving a few miles around the Edinburgh bypass to Edinburgh's fabulous Butterfly and Insect World. This is an ideal introduction to photographing tiny subjects in detail, and will surely get you hooked on close-up and macro work! There will be plenty of photography throughout the day starring butterflies, insects and a variety of critters and creepy-crawlies. The price does NOT include entry to Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World. I have one Nikon loan camera which has a MACRO lens - first come first served! You can also buy a variety of close-up filters which screw on to your existing lens, so you do NOT need to invest in an expensive macro lens to begin your macro journey!

Sport, Event & Motorsport Photography
Edinburgh

This is a full day at Scotland's National Airshow, in East Fortune, East Lothian. This is a fabulous opportunity to learn the techniques required to photograph different aircraft in flight, as they take to the skies in a spectacular flying display. There will be plenty of time to watch the display and still have chance to practise your new skills!

There is also a static display of aircraft to photograph and the museums are open. The Airshow opens at 10am, and last year the awesome flying display began at 12pm.

The price of this workshop does not include the entry fee or lunch, and to ensure that you get the most of out the day, a 200mm lens (or longer) is recommended. TAKE A PICNIC - once the flying display is underway you will not want to queue at the burgervan!

If you decide to make a WEEKEND of it by booking this course IN ADDITION to the Motorsport course at Knockhill the following day (World of Supercars) on 23 July, use discount code REG-15ACTION to reduced the combined price by £15.

Introduction to Landscape Photography
Edinburgh

We begin with the theory of how to capture a beautiful landscape picture............and then venture outdoors and get creative. The course is based at the Anna Henly Photography studio, which is on the doorstep of the Pentland Hills. We will probably begin at Flotterstone (a short distance down the A702) and  walk up to the reservoir which is surrounded by Scots Pine trees, reminiscent of the Highlands. You will need warm clothing and sensible shoes (!) and be prepared to walk a couple of miles during the day, including a hill -  if energy levels are high. A tripod will be helpful, and I will show you how to use polarising, graduated and neutral density filters during the day. Bring a picnic!

Residential Workshops
Aviemore, Scottish Highlands

We will spend two days in this beautiful area in the Highlands of Scotland. We are spoilt for choice with stunning mountain scenery and rocky streams everywhere we look. The exact schedule will be weather dependent. The first day we will spend photographing the landscape and the second day will be spent honing our wildlife photography skills in the Highland Wildlife Park. PRICE IS FOR TUITION ONLY. The workshop will be suitable for beginners and experts, but ideally you will have already done a Going Digital Part 1 course and understand the basics of photography. There are many activities to keep non-photographers happy in this area if you are bringing your family! We will aim to meet up on the Friday evening for dinner and spend Saturday and Sunday photographing to our heart's content.

We will be based at Glenmore Lodge, Scotland’s National Outdoor Training Centre located in the heart of Cairngorms National Park. The accommodation is in twin rooms. For bed&breakfast - the costs are £80 for 2 people sharing a room, per night, and £60 for 1 person in a single room, per night. We can either eat in the bar at the Lodge, or go into Aviemore.  Your accommodation needs to be booked separately by yourselves at the Lodge.

Glenmore Lodge | Aviemore | Inverness-Shire | PH22 1QZ
t: 01479 861 352 / 256 (main office)

If you wish to stay elsewhere and meet the group each day, that is fine too! Aviemore is a VERY BUSY place so I advise booking your accommodation/camp site WITHOUT DELAY.
