Close-Up and Macro Photography Courses

Learn how to take sharp, imaginative close-up photos of a variety of subjects, from dragonflies and moths to flowers, cars, steam engines and memorabilia. Discover the importance of good composition to create stunning shots. Many of our close-up workshops have specific themes (see below for details).

Introduction to Close-Up & Macro Photography

Learn how to use your camera creatively for stunning, well-composed close-up photographs. Our aim is to show you how to take photographs that require only minimal adjustments or editing in Photoshop/Elements.

Understand Your Camera

We will begin the workshop by showing you how you can make the most of the features of your camera to take sharp close-up images.

Compact Cameras

Compact cameras often have a built-in macro facility which makes them particularly suited to this type of photography.

SLR Cameras

SLR users will have the opportunity to learn about different types of lenses and accessories used in close-up and macro photography.

Review and Discuss Your Photos

You will have two photographic sessions, with assistance on hand throughout, and the opportunity to review and discuss your photos as a group.

Equipment

These workshops are suitable for compact and SLR cameras.

To get the best out of this workshop you will require a tripod (full height). Optional equipment - macro lens, close-up filter or extension tube, remote shutter-release.
