The East Anglian Going Digital Difference

I'm Kiri, a professional photographer and freelance writer and I run the GD East Anglia photography workshops. I am passionate about providing my students an excellent photography learning experience as well as a uniquely enjoyable and memorable day out.

What makes GD East Anglia Different?

Small Groups:
We operate a strict tutor - student ratio of 1 to 10 so the group size never gets too large.

Inspiring Venues and Locations:
We pay to hire beautiful and varied venues to ensure you have lots of inspiring subjects to enjoy photographing during your day and use a classroom on most courses as a base to learn and review images in. Its not just a cheap and cheerful walkabout with your camera in hand. (A few specialist wildlife workshops and photowalks don't include a dedicated classroom session so do check your chosen course before booking.)

High Teaching Quality Standards
We provide a variety of practical activities to suit all learning styles during the day including plenty of hands-on photography sessions and a review and learn session to help ensure you get the most out of your camera and the best learning experience as well as having a fun day. We also provide detailed handouts covering the course material as well as your photo activity and camera setting crib sheets at the end of each session so that you take your learning away with you when you, rather than just have an enjoyable day.

About the Tutors

Kiri Stuart-Clarke Photographer Biography

I'm a professional photographer and nature writer for various publications.

Being born in Colchester in 1975, I have longstanding close ties to the East Anglia region and always had an artistic streak. I grew up on the Essex - Suffolk border and spent a lot of my free time exploring the natural beauty of my local countryside. I also frequently visited the north Norfolk coast which remains one of my favourite places to this day.

Although I’d always loved taking pictures, I discovered photography when my husband John gave me my first digital camera in 2008. Digital photography proved to be the perfect outlet for my natural creativity and I’ve been combining my love of the natural world with a passion for photography ever since.

Specialities

I quickly developed a particular interest in and enthusiasm for nature, wildlife, close-up and macro photography, which I am very much looking forward to sharing with students. I’m excited to have returned to my roots and joined forces with such a well regarded photography training company as Going Digital to bring my passion for photography to our students in East Anglia.

John Stuart-Clarke Photographer Biography

I first took up photography in 2006 after being inspired by a jeep Safari during a business trip to South Africa. Within hours, I encountered much of the wildlife for which the country is so famous. I saw Black and White Rhinos only yards away, distant Elephants, Wildebeest, Warthogs, Zebra, Leopards and Lions; the only member of the "Big Five" which I didn't see was the Giraffe. I felt humble, exhilarated and excited and, though I didn’t yet realise it, my life had instantly changed course. I took some pictures of what I saw and whilst I wasn't able to do the scenes justice, that was the start of my journey into nature photography.

Specialities

My main photographic interests are nature and wildlife, especially mammals: if I could be anywhere right now, photographing anything I choose, it would be otters in Scotland... or Brown Bears in Finland... or Red Kites in England...

I really love teaching people new skills. Witnessing the light bulb moment, when something they have wrestled with suddenly clicks for them, gives me a real buzz. Combining my love of photography and teaching students makes launching Going Digital East Anglia my dream job!

We are able to offer a Canon 1000D DLSR body or G11 bridge camera for loan.

8 Grad filters are available for our landscape course on request.
