Welcome
Going Digital Photography Courses North East is the biggest provider of photography courses in the North East of England. Owned and operated by professional photographer Kelvin McIvor, Going Digital North East has provided photography tuition and inspiration to over a 1000 students in the North East of England.
We cater for all levels of expertise ranging from our Digital SLR1 beginners course through to our Wedding Masterclass course. You will receive expert tuition and advice in some of the region's most picturesque locations. All our locations are within 30 minutes of the North East's major towns such as Newcastle upon Tyne, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Durham

Digital SLR 1 Photography Course
Ideal for Beginners or anyone stuck on Auto Mode. You will learn how to take more creative photographs by being able to use your camera to it's full potential. We will teach you how to blur out foregrounds and backgrounds, how to take pin sharp shots, how to darken or lighten your hot, how to get sharp shots in low light without the use of flash and many more brilliant feature of your camera.
Digital SLR 2 Photography Course
Build on your new found skills in SLR1 and take it to another level. Here we teach how your camera see's light and the best use of your metering modes, how to shoot in shutter priority mode,how and when to use manual mode and how to take sharp action shots.
Bird of Prey Photography Experience Day
Take a walk in the stunning Teesdale countryside and become a falconer & a wildlife photographer for a day!. Going Digital North East are proud to offer this amazing opportunity in conjunction with our friends at NorthSide Falconry.
This is a wonderful chance to enjoy some exceptional countryside and photography opportunities. A day of amazing bird of prey photography from start to finish with the opportunity to fly the birds and watch them hunt in their natural habitat. New Going Digital Photography Courses North East Venue
From 2013 we will have an exciting new Newcastle Venue for our photography courses. Kirkley Hall is a magnificent 17th Century building just 8 miles from Newcastle Upon Tyne. Set in beautiful grounds and gardens the Hall will be the venue our wedding photography courses next year as well as our standard courses. Also with the Zoological Gardens and over 100 species of animals we will be using it on our Macro & Close-up photography course where we will have the pleasure of photographing snakes, lizards and other wonderful creatures. Date's will be announced very soon so watch this space.

Wildlife Photography Course on the Farne Islands Northumberland
Yes we are going back in 2013!For all wildlife photographers and ornithologists this is an opportunity not to be missed. In association with Professional Wildlife Photographer Paul Hobson, Going Digital North East has arranged photography courses on the magnificent Farne Islands in June 2013. Our days in 2012 were an amazing experience where the seabirds are at the height of their breading season and the Farne’s are home to up to 20 different species’ including 70,000 puffins! Wedding Photography Courses 2013
I'm pleased to announce our new venue for our wedding photography courses will be Kirkley Hall near Newcastle Upon Tyne. Kirkley Hall is a 17th Century Grade II listed building situated in the Northumberland countryside just outside of Ponteland. Set in beautiful grounds and gardens the Hall offers a tranquil location for weddings and will be an amazing venue for our wedding photography courses. Dates will be announced by the end of October.

About Kelvin
Kelvin has been a taking photographs from childhood,shadowing his father at motorsport events. Although Kelvin started off taking action shots he is now a professional wedding and portrait photographer based in the North east of England. Kelvin loves to relax doing landscape photography spending many an early morning in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the Northumberland Coast; as well as exploring the wonders of macro photography.
Kelvin appreciates the many hurdles that most beginners face when starting to explore the more advanced features of digital photography, he enjoys teaching and encouraging students to take more control and achieve that shot that you never thought would be possible.

One-to-one Training
Join Kelvin on a one-to-one photography course in the picturesque North East of England; private tuition is a great way to kick start your hobby or learn more advanced techniques. Kelvin’s one-to-one Photography days offer a relaxed and flexible approach to learning and exploring your photography. Based on a 6 hour day you can choose the starting time and that location you’ve always wanted to photograph. Don’t worry if you don’t have a location in mind, leave the decision to Kelvin and your private tuition will take place in the some of the best scenery to be found in the North East of England.
- Weekdays - are £200 plus any other expenses, e.g. room hire if required
- Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays- from £225 plus any other expenses, e.g. room hire if required
- A second person is welcome, free of charge
- Group rates on request.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
We ask for a 50% deposit (non-refundable) payable on booking your one-to-one training, with the balance to be paid in full at least 1 month before the training day.

First just wanted to thank you again for the SLR2 workshop yesterday. As I said on the day I've been self taught since December so it was good to finally not only get some constructive tuition but also meet with people at a similar level to myself. I was unsure if the workshop would be too advanced for me as I said, but found your method and enthusiasm (and patience!) meant that I fit right in and was quickly up to speed with everyone else. I'll certainly be booking further workshops later in the year.
