On these workshops you will learn the skills required to take photographs of native and exotic animals, in a controlled environment, with privileged access to get as close as possible, giving you photos that appear to have been shot ' in the wild'. At Hamerton Zoo Park, we are just inches away from the tigers (including Blizzard, their white tiger), cheetah and corsac fox. Most of the animals are in large paddocks which give us very natural looking backgrounds for our shots. Wildlife photographer John Wright has kindly agreed to lead these workshops. See more details of John's workshops at www.photographersonsafari.com. | ![]() | |

British wildlife at its best! The animals are housed in large, natural enclosures that are tailor-made for taking fantastic photos. Badgers here are fed daily at 3.30 pm, therefore guaranteeing photo opportunities. We are privileged to be allowed inside the Pine Marten enclosure.

The north-east of England is arguably the UK's best location for seabird photography. Bass Rock is just 60miles north of the Farne Islands, and can be combined with the Farne Island workshop to provide two days of magical opportunities. Bass Rock is the largest single gannet colony in the world. It is regarded by Sir David Attenborough as one of the “Twelve Wildlife Wonders of the World”.

The Wildlife Heritage Foundation Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent houses a number of endangered big cats with a view to breeding and, where possible, re-introduction to the wild. Although this centre is not open to the general public, Photographers On Safari have arranged for photographers to have privileged up-close access to these amazing animals.

This location offers absolutely amazing photo opportunities. Large enclosures have been created here to house wildlife that are normally almost impossible to get close to in the wild. It seems most unfair that the best pictures here are usually taken after the workshops have ended. Photographers On Safari have decided not to arrange the normal weekday shoot, but have made a special arrangement with the centre to allow you to photograph through that very special golden light when the sun is setting.

Photographers On Safari have arranged for you to spend an extra 50% more time on each island than is normally available. You will spend towards 3 hours at the Staple Island Bird Sanctuary and almost a further 3 hours on Inner Farne. Group numbers will be strictly limited so that everybody gets a great position.

Santago in Hertfordshire is a long standing favourite of many nature photographers. Santago's main objective is to breed from some of the world's most endangered leopards. Here you will find African, Clouded, Persian, and Snow Leopards alongside Cougar/Puma and Black Panther.
These cats are all housed in specially constructed enclosures that allow camera lenses to be placed through purpose built cut-outs. Our photography workshop enables you to safely photograph these animals with nothing more than fresh air between your lens and the animals. They will never be further than twenty feet or so away, and will often be literally within inches of you. Long lenses are not required at Santago.
This venue provides quite a different selection of cats to those that you would find in other collections. Some of the cats form part of breeding programmes, and some have been acquired from zoos and private collections.
We photograph all the cats from inside the outer enclosures. This access is not enjoyed by the general public. All the photography will be from reasonably close and, headshots apart, long lenses are not required.
Have you ever dreamed of what it is like to actually go on safari? This wildlife photography workshop at Woburn Safari park provides the closest comparison you will ever experience in the UK to actually being abroad on safari.
We will be off-road, and this will enable us to position the vehicle wherever we choose. We can therefore make the best use of the available light and, more importantly, can ensure that we have backgrounds that are free from the usual fences and vehicles.
