Brilliant! I attended the Get Off Auto at Tredegar House, Newport on Sunday last 18th Oct 2015. Peter was a fantastic tutor and the setting is a great venue for taking photographs. I teach and assess Social Workers and in my opinion Peter uses a huge range of teaching styles to enable as much learning as possible. He used a Power Point presentation, physical demonstrations (for example using a row of chairs), hands on individual (camera) assistance; and then time for us to have a go (under very disciplined boundaries - ONLY 20 shots!!); followed by a group discussion and a final analysis of what we'd learned and how to keep on learning. All this done with patience and very good humour by Peter. I honestly think that for the first time I am really starting to understand my camera and how it works. Thanks. I would recommend this course to anyone starting off with a DSLR

Hi.  Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed yesterday and how good Sid was as a tutor, very helpful and patient.  I can't wait to get out there and put the skills I learnt yesterday to good use.

Thank you

Thank you for such a great course. I'm so excited that I may actually be able to use my camera and I truly understand why I don't ever need to (or want to) go on the Auto setting ever again!
Thank you for explaining everything so well and I can't wait to get out there tomorrow and really practise everything I've learnt over the weekend.
Best wishes

Hello Dominic

This is just to thank you very much for finding me a place on the course at Tyntesfield yesterday, I really enjoyed the day and Peter was inspirational.  I look forward to enrolling for more courses in the future.

If you ever decide to create a course in this area covering low - light please let me know as if it is possible I would like to enrol.

Thanks again Dominic and hope to meet you sometime in the future.

Good morning Dom,

I recently took part in the Going Digital Part 1 workshop at Killerton House that my Mum, Hilary Mole, booked for me as a birthday present. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and thought that Sid was a brilliant teacher! The only part 2 workshop that I can make is the 10th May at Killerton House but I see that it is already fully booked. I was hoping that you could put me on a waiting list in case any drops out?

Many thanks,

Jules Moles

Dear Dominic
I just wanted to drop you a quick line, to say thank you such much for an absolutely brilliant day yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with you and have learnt some great things that will most definitely add a new dimension to our photography.
I was really impressed with the balance of information you imparted and the practical application, it was just spot on. I have already had a wander around the garden this morning, camera in hand.

Kindest regards

I just wanted to let you know that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our course today. Peter is an excellent instructor, very friendly and has a very good teaching style. I think the content was pitched just right, being challenging to learn such a lot in a day but with an appropriate amount of stuff to get us started. The format was also very good, with the classroom-based learning followed by the practical, and finally a review to consolidate it all at the end. The venue was also very nice.
I would (and shall) certainly recommend this course to friends and family, although I may recommend that they go in spring! And we both look forward to taking more Going Digital courses in the near future.
Many thanks,

Matt Dunk

Dear Peter

Thank you for a great weekend.

I learned so much about landscape photography and will be trying to put it into practice as soon as possible.  It was good of you to put up with all the banter but I am convinced that a happy environment is best for learning!

Hope to see you around again before too long.

Best wishes

Hi Dominic

Have just completed the 2 days at Tredegar House and thought I would give you some feedback.

I have attended many courses on a range of topics during my career, and would rank this 2 days training as one of the best I have ever attended.
Even though I am an absolute beginner, and a number of the others on the course already had several years experience, it was clear that we all
learnt a great deal and all seemed keen to build on what we had learnt. The course was run a relaxed manner and was fun to attend. I have come
away with so many things to experiment with and have no doubt that I shall now progress well with my camera, and am looking forward to the
master-class next Spring.
An excellent 2 days and I would highly recommend it.

All the best,

Hi all

Thanks for your contributions to a positive workshop especially for the volunteer models and thanks to Dominic for your presentation and encouagement.

I surprised myself being willing to sit in front of the lens for the first time and when you can produce photos of me that I even like, it says a lot about your talent!
There were great shots, ideas and compositions, so good luck with all your photoghaphic aspirations.

Best wishes to you all

Hi Peter

I hope you both had a good trip home.

Just wanted to thank you both again for an extremely enjoyable and inspiring couple of days. My husband has been nagging me to do something creative as a hobby for ages and I'm hoping i've now found it! Somehow I think the credit card is about to take a hammering.

Anyway, thanks for the advice and encouragement which was very much appreciated. I hope to catch you on another course in the future, but in the meantime wishing you all the best.

Kind regards

Dear Dominic

I would like to thank you for an excellent day in Windsor. The explanations of terms and the use of the different elements were clear and easily understood and I learnt a number of new things as well as now feeling much more confident in using the settings on the camera. Liz has also gained much more understanding of the technical aspects of the camera and it looks as though I will be keeping hold of the D40 for her use rather than selling it as planned.

Many thanks again,

All the very best,

Rob (and Liz) Wood

Dear Dominic

Just a short email to thank you for an excellent course last Friday at Lacock. I've learnt more in those 6 hours, about my camera and it's functions, than in the 18 months since I bought it. Hope to see you in Winchester on 1 August for Part 2, but I am having a bit of difficulty juggling my dates.

Best Regards
Gareth Williams

Hi Dominic,

I just wanted to thank you for a brilliant day at the workshop in Portsmouth today. I learnt so much and it was great to be able to practice in such an interesting setting. I'm downloading the photos and will review all the settings and see what worked well and what didn't. Having invested in an SLR camera it's great to be able to be a little creative, rather than just taking "snapshots".

I've already ordered Tamron 28-300 lens (thanks for the tip) and have booked a place on the 27th June Winchester course. By then, especially with the new lens, I should have had a chance to practice some of the things I learnt today and will be ready for the next steps!

Thanks again and look forward to seeing you in June

Oh Dear, me head is still smoking from all the information we learned today @ Margam Country Park, I had a fantastic time and experience - the lessons were very good and much better that I expected. Have now booked Part 2 in Feb and look forward to learning alot more....Tutor was brilliant in making sure you understood, just need to put this into practice now !!!! Thank you

Would definately recommend to others, it's a great starter course with the urge of wanting to know more.

Hi Sid

Just wanted to write and thank you for the workshop at Kingston Lacy on Saturday. I have never enjoyed a workshop so much and I got a hell of a lot out of it.
The class was very well led and the group was exceptional. It was great that you took the time to be with us to answer any questions or show us how to do things. My Photography has now taken on a new meaning and will spend more and more time pursuing the hobby.

I am looking forward to part 2.

I wish you well.

Hi Peter

I would like to thank you very much for a very enjoyable couple of courses at Tredegar House last weekend.

As I mentioned, I had spent quite some time reading user manuals, books, but without the practical hands on approach I was not making headway. Your tuition was very relaxing and the exercises you set for us were not only easy to understand but also very effective in putting your tuition into context. Since returning home I have re-visited my previous reading and it now makes sense! I am not going to profess that I am a camera expert by any means but I now feel I have a very good basis on which to explore more features of my camera.

I am sure that I also speak for my colleagues on the courses in saying that they were very worthwhile, and good value for money.

I will keep an eye on your website hoping that I can find other courses of interest.

Thank you again, and good luck for the future

Kind regards

Ray Sheward

Hi Dom.

Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed the Digital SLR course part 1 on Friday 18th February.

As you will have noticed I am not technically minded and was slightly apprehensive
as I hate to appear 'thick'.

You made the whole course intuitive and friendly so that by the end I felt so much more enabled.

I will be out and about so much more now and trying to put your teaching into practice.

I have booked for the SLR part 2 on the 19th March so i look forward to learning much more.

 Thank you once again.

Hi Dominic

This is ideal, thank you.

We both found the day very informative and I am sure it will have assisted James considerably with the skills improvement he is looking to achieve for his Duke of Edinburgh award.

Best regards

Thanks very much for the workshop last Saturday.

It was very informative and enjoyable - I feel much more confident in
using my camera - and no more Auto mode!

All the best.

Hello Dominic

Richard and I would like to thank you for such an excellent day in Windsor today. We both learned so much and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We have just signed up for Part 2 on 12th June. We look forward to seeing you then - fingers crossed for similar weather to today.

Hi Dominic,

I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help yesterday, everything was explained in a way
that was easy to understand, I’m looking forward to getting out there with my camera, and out of auto!,
I’m just trying to decide which course 2 i should go on.

Many thanks again

I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you very much for the two courses at Dyrham Park. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them and they certainly helped me get to grips with my new camera. I really enjoyed the mix of theory and practical application too, so that I actually understand the way the camera works, not just what it does.

I will certainly book up another course with you later in the year.

Again, many thanks for a very enjoyable course.

Best wishes, Alex

Hi Dominic

I imagine that you probably don't remember me but I attended your "Photographing Family and Friends" and your "Portrait Photography with Flash" courses in April this year at Lacock Abbey.

I just wanted to let you know that I entered a portrait photography competition at my local photography club which I have recently joined and I won the competition! I am delighted and it wouldn't have happened without your excellent course!

I have also had many compliments from family and friends regarding my photographs.

Thank you again for an excellent two days!
