ONE-TO-ONE PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE DAYS

This will give you a great foundation in portrait photography using reflectors, fill-in flash, and natural light, and also learn how to use locations to enhance your portrait shots.

We will also demonstrate how to control on and off-camera flash to enhance your images.

The workshops have practical as well as theory-based sessions and a chance to review your photos

It is recommended that you have attended at least our Part One - Get Off Auto Course.

A model is provided.

Limited to eight places.

This course will take place in Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne. Starting at 4seasons cafe before heading out to the nearby harbour and beaches.

What will I learn:

• Why, how and when to use flash- well explain why you might use a flash to improve your portrait photography and how and when to use it

• Different types of flash- we'll show you the different ways to use your flash and help you pick the right one for each situation, including both indoor and outdoor scenarios

• Fill in flash- we'll show you what fill in flash is, how it works and help you learn how and when to use it

• Flash as the main light source- we'll explain and show you how to use your flash when it's the main source of light for your photo

• Auto flash and manual flash- we help you understand what they are and how and when to use them

• Off camera flash- we look at what this is, and when and how to use it

• Modifiers- we'll explain why you might like to use a modifier for your flash and what is available

• Composition- we explain some of the main portrait compositional guidelines and show you how to put them into practice

Here's what you can expect from the day:

• A fun, sociable and educational day, running from 10 am until 3:30pm

• Tuition from an experienced professional portrait photographer and course notes emailed to you afterward to support your learning

• Both theory and practical time, so that you get the best of both worlds and get the most from the day no matter what your learning style

• A review of images at the end of the day, with lots of opportunities to ask any questions

What do I need to know?

• you should be confident shooting in Aperture priority to attend this wokshop

• it's suitable for any camera apart from smart phones

• you don't need a separate flash - you can use your flash on your camera

• if you have a hot shoe flash, please bring it along.
