Charmagne Haxby - Assistant
I've always had a passion for creating and have been blessed with the opportunity to combine this with another passion, teaching. I have a BA Hons degree in Art and Education and P.G.C.E in primary teaching. I have over 13 years experience in primary school education, teaching across KS1 & KS2. Within my teaching time I was able to sample many roles from Class teacher, Literacy Co-ordinator, KS2 leader through to Assistant Head. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside some very inspirational people making my time in education a very enjoyable one.
A decision to change my career last year with the idea of gaining more family time, more time to create and to discover past hobbies and interests surprised many. I attended a few of the Going Digital courses as part of this process and found myself hooked. Suddenly my DSLR made sense, I was able to be more creative with the photos I took and gained a better understanding behind how to take better photos. Through the Going Digital courses, help from a dedicated and engaging tutor, listening to feedback and joining the GD community I have continued to watch my skills grow.
I am at the start of my new career, working as a freelance photographer. I still teach, but on a flexible supply basis which allows me to continue to develop my camera skills as and when opportunities arise.
I still don't know where this road will take me, but I do know I am enjoying the journey.
